General FAQs

How do I apply?

When you find a vacancy that you wish to apply for, click the ‘Apply now’ button. You’ll be offered the choice of applying using your LinkedIn profile or alternatively, you can upload your CV to your application.

You’ll receive an email acknowledging your application and one of our dedicated team will review your application personally.

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident employer. If you encounter any accessibility challenges during your online application, please let us know by contacting: Resource.Coord@edfenergy.com and one of the recruitment team will be in touch.

I applied for a role before 18 February 2025 and can no longer access my profile.

Rest assured, all applications submitted before 18 February 2025 are being processed by our Recruitment team. However, as we transition to a new system, you will no longer be able to access your profile.

Are there any issues applying for roles using an iCloud email address?

We’ve identified some infrequent issues when applicants apply via an iCloud email address. To ensure you receive all communications, we recommend using an alternative email provider to apply for roles where possible.

I wanted to apply for a position I saw, but it's not listed anymore - can I still apply?

Vacancies are generally advertised over two weeks. Once the closing date has passed, the vacancy will no longer be listed. Unfortunately, we cannot accept late applications.

How can I check the status of my application?

The time taken for reviewing applications will vary depending on the type of role you're applying for. Our aim is always to respond to applications as soon as possible, and you will always be notified as to whether your application was successful.

Who can I contact for feedback on my application?

Due to the high number of applications that we receive, we’re unable to provide detailed feedback to candidates who are not successful in reaching the interview stage with the hiring manager.

Do you accept speculative applications?

Instead of accepting speculative CVs, we advise you to register your details on our careers website and set up alerts for future opportunities which will be relevant to you.

What do you do with my personal details?

At EDF, we respect your privacy and value the trust you put in us when you share your personal details with us. Find more information on what data we collect and why we collect this data from you: EDF privacy and cookie policy.

I’m a Recruitment Consultant, how can I work with EDF?

We operate a preferred supplier list for recruitment agencies and are unable to accept unsolicited or speculative applications from suppliers not on the list. Please contact us to find out more here: AgencyQueries@edfenergy.com.

I’m a contractor/supplier, how can I work with EDF?

Visit the supply chain page for more information about becoming a supplier: Supply Chain.

As part of our recruitment process, we’ll ask you to prove your eligibility to work in the UK. We’ll request you to bring ID documents with you to your interview (if face-to-face), so that if you are the successful candidate and we offer you the job, we can start the pre-employment checking process without delay.

What is our selection process?

Depending on the role you’ve applied for, we’ll ask you to complete different assessments and/or interviews. From our training programmes to our senior positions, the selection process is tailored to meet specific role and business needs. As your application progresses, your Recruiter will discuss the various stages with you.

How does the interview process work?

Interviews are designed to measure the skills and behaviours required to do a job well. All candidates under consideration for a role are assessed against the same set of competencies to ensure fairness. Our interviews are carried out by our Recruiters, management team and HR colleagues via telephone, video and face-to-face.

What happens at an assessment centre?

If you’re invited to an assessment centre, your Recruiter will let you know what to expect. Our assessment days will usually involve several exercises for you to demonstrate different skills. Our assessment centres might be face-to-face or online, but rest assured that we’ll provide you with all the information you need in advance.

What to wear for my interview?

At EDF, most people wear smart casual attire. However, interviewees usually dress in business-wear. A good example of this is a clean and ironed shirt with smart trousers/skirt or suit and smart shoes. This is just as important for a video interview as it is when meeting us face-to-face.

What is the dress code?

For site and remote technical roles you'll be provided with a uniform and necessary PPE. Otherwise, our employees are expected to dress appropriately for the environment in which they work.

When will I hear the outcome?

We know you'll be keen to hear the outcome of your interview, and we'll aim to update you as soon as we can after the last interview has taken place.

How do I tell you about any adjustments required in respect of a disability?

We’re proud to be a Disability Confident employer. If you encounter any accessibility challenges during your online application, please let us know by contacting Resource.Coord@edfenergy.com and one of the recruitment team will be in touch. We operate a guaranteed interview scheme for candidates with disabilities, which means that if you meet the minimum criteria for the opportunity and you share your disability with us, you will automatically progress to the first stage of our selection process.

I have just finished School / College and don't have any work experience - can I still apply to EDF?

Yes, we don’t require you to have any previous work experience for our Early Careers programmes. You can find out more about all of the programmes we offer on our early careers page.

Who do I contact for queries about Graduate Programmes, Industrial Placements, Apprenticeships or Work Experience opportunities?

I’m a Recruitment Consultant, how can I work with EDF?

We don’t use Recruitment Agencies for Early Careers recruitment. For Experienced Hire recruitment, we operate a preferred supplier list for recruitment agencies and are unable to accept unsolicited or speculative applications from suppliers not on the list. Please contact us to find out more here: AgencyQueries@edfenergy.com.

As part of our recruitment process, it is essential that you have the right to work in the UK. During your onboarding, we will ask you to complete a right to work check, which may be conducted either virtually or in person, depending on your documentation. We will inform you of the specific process when we begin onboarding.

For all our Early Careers programmes, if you meet our role requirements at application review, we’ll take you through to the next part of the process. The next stage is a test that will focus on your natural skills and behaviours. This will come from a company called Arctic Shores. Keep an eye on your inbox and remember to check your spam/junk folder too as they may pop in there!

If you pass our testing, you’ll move on to our video interview. This is a one-way video interview, where we will ask you a series of scenario-based questions for you to respond to.

Almost there! Following the video interview, we will get in contact with you (usually within 3 weeks) to let you know if you have been successful at moving onto the next stage or not. The next stage will be an assessment centre or face-to-face interview, depending on the programme you have applied for. You can find out more about each stage of our assessment process on the EDF Careers site. The whole process usually takes 6-8 weeks and we’ll be in touch throughout.

How does the interview process work?

Interviews are designed to measure the skills and behaviours required to be successful in each of the programmes we offer. All candidates are assessed against the same set of skills and behaviours to ensure fairness and these are specific to the role that’s been applied to.

Our face-to-face interviews are carried out by Hiring Managers, Recruiters, and HR colleagues from across the business and these can be done virtually or in person.

These are done as a standalone interview for our Industrial Placement programmes, but for Graduate and Apprentice programmes, they form part of the assessment centre day.

What happens at an assessment centre?

If you’re invited to an assessment centre, the recruitment team will let you know what to expect. Our assessment days will involve several different exercises, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate all the different skills and behaviours that are important to the programme you have applied for.

Our assessment centres are usually done virtually, but you will be advised of this when you receive your invitation. We will also send you more information about what to expect on the day when we invite you to the assessment centre.

For site and remote technical roles you'll be provided with a uniform and necessary PPE. Otherwise, our employees are expected to dress appropriately for the environment in which they work.

When will I hear the outcome?

We know you'll be keen to hear the outcome of your interview or assessment centre, so we will always aim to update you within 7 days of an assessment centre or within 7 days of our final interview taking place.
