Early Careers FAQs
Applying for roles
How do I apply?
When you find a vacancy that you wish to apply for, click
the
‘Apply now’ button. You’ll be offered the choice of applying using your LinkedIn profile
or alternatively, you can upload your CV to your
application.
You’ll receive an email acknowledging your application and one of our dedicated team
will review your application personally.
We’re proud to be a Disability Confident employer. If you encounter any accessibility
challenges during your online application, please let us know by contacting:
yourfuture@edfenergy.com and one of the recruitment team will be in touch.
Are there any issues applying for roles using an iCloud email address?
We’ve identified some infrequent issues when applicants apply via an iCloud email
address. To ensure you receive all communications, we recommend using an alternative
email provider to apply for roles where possible.
I wanted to apply for a position I saw, but it's not listed anymore - can I still
apply?
All of our Early Careers roles do have a closing date listed, however, occasionally, we
may close roles early if we reach our application numbers. If you're interested in a
vacancy which has closed, please contact: yourfuture@edfenergy.com and the team
will help you. You can also register your interest on our careers site, so
that you
get notified of any future roles which may suit your requirements.
How can I check the status of my application?
We always respond to applications as soon as possible, and we will aim to update you on
progress within 7 working days, however, you can also monitor progress on your
application through your EDF profile on the careers site, or by emailing us for an
update at: yourfuture@edfenergy.com.
Who can I contact for feedback on my application?
Due to the high number of applications that we receive, we’re unable to provide detailed
feedback to candidates who are not successful at application or online testing stage.
After online testing, you'll receive a personalised feedback report, which will guide
you on your areas of strength and areas of development for the future. If you have any
questions, or would like feedback following other stages of the process, please contact
us at: yourfuture@edfenergy.com
Do you accept speculative applications?
Instead of accepting speculative CVs, we advise you to register your details on our
careers website and set up alerts for future opportunities which will be relevant to
you.
What do you do with my personal details?
At EDF, we respect your privacy and value the trust you put in us when you share your
personal details with us. Find more information on what data we collect and why we
collect this data from you: EDF
privacy and cookie policy.
Who do I contact for queries about Graduate Programmes, Industrial Placements,
Apprenticeships or Work Experience opportunities?
For Graduate, 12-month Placement and Apprentice queries, please contact the Early
Careers Recruitment Team at: YourFuture@edfenergy.com. If you're interested in
work
experience, we offer virtual work experience, which you can access here Virtual Work Experience.
Recruitment Agencies
I’m a Recruitment Consultant, how can I work with EDF?
We don’t use Recruitment Agencies for Early Careers recruitment. For Experienced Hire
recruitment, we operate a preferred supplier list for recruitment agencies and are
unable to
accept unsolicited or speculative applications from suppliers not on the list. Please
contact us to find out more here: AgencyQueries@edfenergy.com.
Right to work in the UK
As part of our recruitment process, it is essential that you have the right to work in the UK. During your onboarding, we will ask you to complete a right to work check, which may be conducted either virtually or in person, depending on your documentation. We will inform you of the specific process when we begin onboarding.
Our selection process
For all our Early Careers programmes, if you meet our role requirements at
application
review, we’ll take you through to the next part of the process. The next stage is a test
that will focus on your natural skills and behaviours. This will come from a company
called
Arctic Shores. Keep an eye on your inbox and remember to check your spam/junk folder too
as
they may pop in there!
If you pass our testing, you’ll move on to our video interview. This is a one-way video
interview, where we will ask you a series of scenario-based questions for you to respond
to.
Almost there! Following the video interview, we will get in contact with you (usually
within
3 weeks) to let you know if you have been successful at moving onto the next stage or
not.
The next stage will be an assessment centre or face-to-face interview, depending on the
programme you have applied for. You can find out more about each stage of our assessment
process on the EDF Careers site. The whole process usually takes 6-8 weeks and we’ll be
in
touch throughout.
How does the interview process work?
Interviews are designed to measure the skills and behaviours required to be successful
in
each of the programmes we offer. All candidates are assessed against the same set of
skills
and behaviours to ensure fairness and these are specific to the role that’s been applied
to.
Our face-to-face interviews are carried out by Hiring Managers, Recruiters, and HR
colleagues from across the business and these can be done virtually or in person.
These are done as a standalone interview for our Industrial Placement programmes, but
for
Graduate and Apprentice programmes, they form part of the assessment centre day.
What happens at an assessment centre?
If you’re invited to an assessment centre, the recruitment team will let you know what
to
expect. Our assessment days will involve several different exercises, giving you the
opportunity to demonstrate all the different skills and behaviours that are important
to
the programme you have applied for.
Our assessment centres are usually done virtually, but you will be advised of this when
you
receive your invitation. We will also send you more information about what to expect on
the
day when we invite you to the assessment centre.
What to wear for my interview?
At EDF, most people wear smart casual attire. However, interviewees usually dress in business-wear. A good example of this is a clean and ironed shirt with smart trousers/skirt or suit and smart shoes. This is just as important for a video interview as it is when meeting us face-to-face.
What is the dress code?
For site and remote technical roles you'll be provided with a uniform and necessary PPE. Otherwise, our employees are expected to dress appropriately for the environment in which they work.
When will I hear the outcome?
We know you'll be keen to hear the outcome of your interview or assessment centre, so we
will always aim to update you within 7 days of an assessment centre or within 7 days of
our
final interview taking place.
How do I tell you about any adjustments required in respect of a disability?
We’re proud to be a Disability Confident employer. If you encounter any accessibility
challenges during your online application, or you require any adjustments or support
during
the selection process, please let us know by contacting:
yourfuture@edfenergy.com.
We operate a guaranteed interview scheme for candidates with disabilities, which means
that
if you meet the minimum criteria for the opportunity and you share your disability with
us,
you will automatically progress to the video interview stage of our selection
process.
Training programmes
I have just finished School / College and don't have any work experience -
can I still apply
to EDF?
Yes, we don’t require you to have any previous work experience for our Early
Careers
programmes. You can find out more about all of the programmes we offer on our
early careers
page.
Who do I contact for queries about Graduate Programmes, Industrial
Placements,
Apprenticeships or Work Experience opportunities?
Please contact our Early Careers Recruitment Team here:
