Meet the team: Rachael

Meet Rachael – Customers and Corporate Business Information Security Officer

Rachael joined EDF with a wealth of experience in intelligence and cyber security, drawn by the company’s reputation as a leader in low carbon electricity and its commitment to innovation in renewables. “EDF is a well-known brand in the energy sector,” she says, “and it continues to invest in nuclear, wind, solar and battery technologies.”

For Rachael, the energy industry’s role in Critical National Infrastructure was a key motivator. “It’s important that people in the UK can trust our services and go about their daily lives safely,” she explains. Her role at EDF allows her to do just that - protecting networks, systems and data, and working with customers to reduce online fraud.

A Passion for Service and Security

“What I enjoy most? The energy - no pun intended!” Rachael laughs. “Everyone here is passionate about delivering great services to our customers.” She appreciates how cyber security is embraced across the business, with teams collaborating to create pragmatic, resilient solutions.

Rachael describes cyber at EDF as a “team sport,” where everyone plays a part. “We work with a multitude of technologies, suppliers and skills groups to deliver secure and innovative energy solutions,” she says. “The commitment to cyber security comes from the top down.”

Defining Success and Looking Ahead

For Rachael, success means enabling the business to deliver great customer service and resilient Net Zero solutions. “EDF’s heritage is about service, safety and security,” she says. “There’s a top-down commitment to cyber, and the people here are incredibly supportive.”

Having worked in many impressive organisations, Rachael counts EDF among the best. “It’s outcome-focused, and people are encouraged to be open about challenges and seize opportunities to grow.”

“It’s a diverse organisation and part of a global family. The possibilities are endless.”

Life at EDF

Rachael is an active member of the Cyber Security Skills Working Group and the DESNZ working group on cyber assessment. She describes EDF as diverse, inclusive, and is proud of the culture in the Customers business, recently named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025. She values integrity, trust and customer focus in the workplace and appreciates the flexibility of homeworking.
