About the Role

Ready to shape the governance that powers Britain’s biggest zero carbon project?

Want to lead a team that drives compliance, clarity and continuous improvement across one of the UK’s most complex infrastructure programmes? At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

The Opportunity

As Commercial Lead (Governance & Assurance), you’ll play a key role in ensuring the Supply Chain Directorate at Hinkley Point C operates with clarity, consistency and confidence. You’ll lead a team responsible for embedding governance and assurance across the project, helping us deliver a safer, smarter and more sustainable future.

You’ll join us on a salary starting from £80,000 per annum. This is a hybrid role, with the flexibility to work from home and attend our Aztec West Office with a minimum of 2 days a week. #LI-Hybrid

From shaping governance frameworks to driving assurance reviews, you’ll be at the heart of how we manage commercial risk and improve performance. You’ll work with senior leaders, contract partners and subject matter experts to make sure our processes are aligned, effective and future ready.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Commercial Lead (Governance & Assurance) who thrives on clarity, collaboration and accountability. Do you offer…

  • Experience managing or delivering governance and/or assurance activities in a major programme’s, highly regulated industries or nuclear environments
  • Commercial management experience with NEC and/or FIDIC contracts
  • Strong understanding of UK regulatory frameworks and it would be beneficial to have experience with nuclear site licence conditions
  • Ability to distil complex information into clear, actionable requirements
  • Confidence engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading a team to implement and maintain the Governance Framework and Assurance services
  • Overseeing improvements to governance processes and ensuring timely delivery of actions
  • Representing the Directorate on governance forums and panels
  • Escalating commercial risks and proposing action plans to senior leadership
  • Reporting on compliance and assurance to internal and external stakeholders

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of at least £80,000 per annum, including an annual bonus, car allowance, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.

This role will close when we have found the right candidate, we advising applying promptly to avoid missing out on this role.
