Early Careers: Guide to your Video Interview

The video interview is a great opportunity for us to get to know you better and for you to get a feel for the role you’ve applied for.

This is a one-way interview with scenario-based questions designed to give you a realistic preview of the role and some of the tasks you might be involved in. We’re not looking for specific experience - you don’t need to have "done it all" already! Instead, we’re really interested in how you approach challenges, how you tackle tasks, and how you behave in work-based scenarios.

If you need any adjustments to support you with the interview, please let us know in advance. Whether that’s an audio-only option or something else, we’re here to make sure you have everything you need to perform at your best.

Here’s how it works:

  • You’ll receive an email with a link to the video interview platform (Willo).
  • You can complete the interview at a time that suits you - just make sure to do it within 5 days of receiving the link.
  • The interview itself will take no more than 15-20 minutes, with 4 questions in total.
  • You’ll have some thinking time before each question, up to 3 minutes to record your response, and the option to re-record if you need to.

The questions will focus on your motivation for applying to the role (we’d love to hear what excites you about joining EDF!) and the key skills that are important to the role and programme you’ve applied for.

If you are using your phone, make sure it is propped up or stable so that your hand isn’t shaking while recording your answers.

If you have any technical issues during the interview, you can contact Willo support via the chat at the bottom right of the screen when you are on the platform. The Willo platform also includes key accessibility features to support candidates throughout the interview process. These include screen reader compatibility, high contrast settings, and adjustable font sizes. If you need additional guidance, you can access information about how the interview works, answers to common technical questions, and troubleshooting tips here: Willo Support – How It Works.

“Stay calm and take it one step at a time, doing multiple applications can seem never-ending but stay positive and keep going through the stages. I know it's a cliché, but just be yourself!”

Rachael, Graduate

We also want to reassure you that your answers will be reviewed by our trained Recruitment Team - no computers involved! We use a standardised scoring process and job-relevant criteria to ensure fairness and consistency for everyone.

Before you get started, we recommend taking a moment to get comfortable with the technology to ensure everything runs smoothly.
