Completing a Resourcing placement with EDF
"I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and how approachable everyone is. It provides a cohesive environment which helps me to thrive in on my placement."
Why did you decide to join EDF?
I chose EDF because of the company’s mission statement and values around sustainability and achieving net zero, especially since climate change is such a salient issue. Furthermore, I couldn't pass up the opportunity of being involved in one of the biggest projects in Europe.
What are you enjoying most about your placement?
I work in the Human Resources department and I like that my role is very dynamic and fast-paced, so there is never a moment when I’m bored. There’s a real sense of responsibility, which is very encouraging. It shows that even though you’re on a placement, you’re trusted to undertake tasks which are presented to various levels of stakeholders within the business.
Are you part of any EDF networks or activities?
I’m a part of the board for the Industrial Placement Society and Young Professional Network, which is great for my CV as well as building professional relationships within the workplace. We do fun activities within our HR Resourcing team, which include going on organised trips to nuclear stations and away days.
Can you describe your visit to a power station?
I recently visited our West Burton site to take a tour of the coal plant that’s decommissioning, as well as brainstorming concepts with the recruitment team that will be implemented this year. I thought this experience was incredible as it gave me a greater insight on how operations run within EDF and it also enabled me to collaborate with employees within different divisions within EDF.
What advice would you give to those considering an EDF Industrial Placement?
I would recommend doing an Industrial Placement because it has assisted me in developing invaluable skill sets that will be beneficial when I go back to my final year of university as well as pursuing my desired career path. Completing an Industrial Placement at EDF puts me in a good position for when I go to apply for graduate roles after I’ve finished my final year at university.
Whether you’re motivated by tackling climate change; working in a diverse and inclusive environment; or gaining an insight into the world of work, we’d love to hear from you if you'd like to join the team!
