Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater
Are you a qualified engineer with a background in electrical or environmental engineering? Do you have experience working in regulated environments and familiarity with engineering documentation and maintenance procedures? Are you looking to build your expertise in asset management and work planning within the dynamic and complex setting of nuclear new build? If so, come and join EDF as a WEG Engineer!
The Opportunity
As a Work Management (WEG) Engineer, you’ll support the development and implementation of work planning processes and tools to enable efficient execution and tracking of commissioning, planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance. Working within the Pre-Operations function, you’ll collaborate across departments to align priorities, allocate resources, and monitor progress—supporting the safe and effective delivery of Hinkley Point C within the UK regulatory framework.
You’ll gain experience with pressurised water reactors, contributing to construction and commissioning activities and preparing to take technical responsibility for designated systems post-handover. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop specialist knowledge, influence operational readiness, and shape your career path, supported by targeted training, technical documentation, and guidance from experienced engineers.
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a starting salary of £54,180 and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll report to the Work Management Lead and support the development of routine maintenance activities for the operational station within the Enterprise Asset Management System. Collaborating with the Equipment Reliability team, you’ll help define maintenance requirements and contribute to the design and enhancement of the asset management tool.
You’ll also support the creation of standards, procedures, and arrangements aligned with WANO AP928 to ensure safe and reliable operations. Working closely with the commissioning team, you’ll help improve cross-functional processes and deliverables, while actively contributing to the development and implementation of Work Management processes and procedures.
Who you are
You’ll have a strong science or engineering background—ideally with a degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering. You’ll have experience working in regulated industrial environments, including writing and using maintenance instructions, interpreting Maintenance and System Design Manuals, and reviewing engineering drawings. Strong organisational skills, effective written communication, and confidence with IT tools are essential, alongside experience conducting and documenting risk assessments.
We’re looking for someone familiar with work management processes and asset management systems such as Asset Suite, with an understanding of the WANO AP928 framework and its role in safe and reliable operations. Experience in commissioning processes—particularly on nuclear sites—would be an advantage, as would familiarity with APSA (Authorised Persons Safety Assessment) and knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and compliance requirements.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 19th August 2024
