About the Role
The Opportunity
As Senior Manager of WMS Finance, you’ll play a key leadership role within the Customers Finance team, acting as a trusted Finance Business Partner to the Wholesale Market Services (WMS) function.
WMS is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.
You’ll provide commercially focussed financial insight, analysis and challenge across a range of high-impact areas. In addition to your business partnering responsibilities, you’ll oversee the provision of high quality financial reporting for WMS’ Gross Margin, Operating Expenditure and Cash. This role offers a unique blend of strategic influence and hands-on financial oversight.
You’ll lead and inspire a team of three experienced Senior Analysts and report directly to the Head of WMS & EBS Finance.

What you’ll be doing
As Senior Manager of WMS, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving financial performance by partnering closely with the WMS business unit to maximise Gross Margin and manage Operating Expenditure.
You’ll lead and develop a high-performing team, delivering expert analysis, insightful reporting, and robust financial challenge to support strategic decision-making and sustainable EBITDA growth.
You’ll own the accuracy of monthly forecasts, actuals, and balance sheet transactions for Gross Margin and Opex, while championing a culture of continuous improvement—leveraging technologies like Robotics and AI to boost efficiency.
You’ll also lead the development of the annual four-year medium-term plan, build strong relationships with senior leaders, and act as a trusted advisor to the WMS Director and Senior Leadership Team. Operating with autonomy, you’ll influence and challenge at a senior level, playing a key role in shaping the strategy and success of the WMS Finance team.
Who you are
You’re a commercially minded and solutions-focused finance leader with a track record of leading high-performing financial planning, reporting or Business Partnering teams. You’re confident interpreting complex industry changes and translating financial impacts into clear, actionable insights for a non-financial audience.
An experienced and qualified (or part-qualified) accountant, you bring a strong blend of strategic thinking and people leadership. You know how to influence, build trust, and generate support across a wide range of stakeholders—assertive when needed, but always open to alternative perspectives that improve decision-making.
You thrive in fast-paced environments and view change as an opportunity to add value. Your ability to balance empathy with delivering the case for change helps bring people with you. With strong communication skills and a flair for storytelling, you simplify complex financial information using clear narratives and visuals.
