About the Role

Are you a proven leader with experience in Energy Trading, Operations or Flexibility Services? If so, come and join EDF as the Senior Manager of Flexibility Operations!

The Opportunity

The Wholesale Market Services (WMS) Commercial team drives value for EDF’s generation assets and our third-party partners. We develop market strategies, forecast performance, manage contracts, and secure Capacity Market agreements. Through our Flexibility Services team, we provide end-to-end commercial and operational support for battery storage, gas peakers, and demand-side response assets.

As the Senior Manager of Flexibility Operations, you will lead one of EDF’s fastest-growing areas. You’ll manage a talented team delivering customer success, settlements, reporting, and asset monitoring for over 1GW of flexible capacity – with that portfolio growing fast!

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a salary of circa £82,000 (depending on experience) and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the operational delivery of EDF’s Flexibility Services portfolio across customer support, settlements, and asset monitoring. You will ensure efficient onboarding, optimisation and ongoing performance of Battery, Gas Peaker and DSR assets.

As the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement in automation, reporting and process scalability as well as building trusted relationships with customers, acting as their operational lead.

You’ll mentor and develop a high-performing team across multiple experience levels whilst shaping and delivering key initiatives that enhance customer experience and operational value.

Who you are

We’re looking for an operational leader with a good understanding of UK power markets, trading dynamics, and flexibility mechanisms (BM, ancillary services etc).

As the Senior Manager of Flexibility Operations, you will demonstrate commercial and operational experience with battery storage, gas peakers and other flexible assets. You will have strong leadership, people management and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to interpret complex data, spot patterns and drive action.

You’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complexity, influence decisions and build trust. You will have experience working with or alongside ESO, DSOs and regulatory frameworks and familiarity with third-party tech platforms and API-integrated optimisation tools.

Our Cultural DNA is at the heart of everything we do:

We Are Open – The best ideas can come from anywhere. We share knowledge, embrace new thinking, and keep the conversation going to spark innovation and drive progress.

We Own It – We take responsibility, make informed decisions, and follow through. Whether we’re celebrating success or learning from challenges, we step up and make things happen.

We Make It Better – We’re always looking for ways to improve. If there’s a smarter, more efficient way to do something, we go for it, pushing for excellence in everything we do.

We’re looking for people who are perceptive, intellectually agile, and always eager to deepen their understanding. If you thrive on tackling complexity and want to make a real impact in a dynamic environment, you’ll fit right in.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
