The Opportunity
As a member of the Station senior leadership team the Project Portfolio Manager is based on site at Heysham 1 Power Station. You will lead a team of Station focused project professionals to deliver work safely and maximum value.
Reporting into Heysham 1 Station Director, you will be accountable for the performance and delivery of the Station investment portfolio, driving value and benefit into the whole lifecycle of our plant.

What you’ll be doing
This is a senior leadership role, so your commitment to driving a team will play a fundamental aspect in your role. Other daily roles and responsibilities will include:
Safely delivering the portfolio of projects required for generation and in preparation for defueling to time, cost and quality parameters.
Responsible for the front-end strategy from definition of need and through optioneering.
Maintaining strong relationships with project sponsors and members of the Station lead team so projects are effectively supported by the business.
Supporting the day-to-day management of staff and contractors, including their safety and wellbeing. This also includes engaging the team in operational learning.
Ensuring project and portfolio level risks are identified and effectively managed.
Who you are
First and foremost, we’re looking for you to demonstrate a significant track record of success in delivering projects in heavily regulated and operational environments, preferably in the nuclear industry. With a strong working knowledge of relevant health, safety and environment legislation, specifically including the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) Regulations, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to nuclear safety and zero harm.
Forming strong and meaningful relationships both on and off the Power Station, including Suppliers, Regulators, Nuclear Services and Technical Directorate will be essential. With experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams working on technical platforms, you will be a natural communicator who inspires and motivates, influencing and building trust at all levels across a diverse group of stakeholders.
This role requires you to be preferably degree educated, ideally in engineering or relevant experience/subject, as a Chartered Engineer or having an equivalent professional qualification. An Association Project Management Professional (APMP) or and Registered Project Professional (RPP) qualification is desirable.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
