The Opportunity
Alongside earning a salary of £37,500 per annum, you’ll join a 16-month training programme designed to build your technical expertise and professional confidence.
You’ll rotate through placements across our nuclear new build sites, central teams and operating stations. You’ll work on real-world projects such as task analysis, design reviews and safety case development. You’ll also receive protected training time for courses like Nuclear Fundamentals and Human Performance, and be supported to begin your journey towards chartership with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors or other relevant bodies.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Human Factors Engineering Graduate at EDF, you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that support the UK’s journey to net zero
- Support Human Factors work including task analyses and procedure improvements
- Shadow walk-downs at EDF nuclear power stations
- Contribute to commissioning and safety case development for Hinkley Point C
- Produce reports detailing Human Factors assessments
- Complete placements with teams such as Design Authority, Pre-Operations and Human Performance
Your Work Location
You’ll be based at one of our key sites: #Gloucester, #Bristol, #Bridgwater, #Hartlepool or #SizewellB. You’ll also have the opportunity for at least one placement away from your main location, gaining exposure to the wider EDF nuclear family. Most locations require 3–5 days in office per week.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF graduate programme, you need to have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a 2:2 Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as:
- Human Factors
- Ergonomics
- Occupational Psychology
- Cognitive Psychology
- Psychology
- Engineering
- Human-computer interaction
- UI/UX Design
- Life Sciences
You’ll have a genuine interest in nuclear energy, strong communication and organisational skills, and a passion for solving technical problems.

Security Vetting
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
