Are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience to work in helping ensure that our Contractors support the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear plant?

The Opportunity

As one of our Station Contract Manager’s at Heysham 2 power station, you’ll be involved with leading the commercial management of all contracts, including supplier appraisal, supporting the development of specifications, tender preparation and assessment as well as negotiation, placement and claim management.

You’ll hold and manage the contract expenditure budget on behalf of the Station and act as a focal point and single point of instruction between EDF Energy and contractor.

Pay, benefits and culture

We are offering a starting salary of between £45,641 and £81,263 with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Nuclear Generation Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualification. What you’ll be doing

As the Station Contract Manager, you’ll:

Ensure all activities are carried out in full compliance within agreed safety and environmental standards and expectations.

Support the provision of a controlled and stable supply chain environment through the application of agreed procurement strategies.

Provide commercial leadership for allocated contracts ensuring ‘value for money’ by carrying out supplier appraisals, supporting development of specifications, tender preparation etc

Have oversight of contract performance, coordination, management and reporting of all contractor activity in accordance with targets set for safety, quality, delivery (time) and cost.

Identifying, understanding and managing commercial risks and, when appropriate, seeking support from our central organisation, to minimise the companies risk exposure.

Who you are

We’re looking for you to come into this role with demonstrable experience within a commercial environment, contract management and supplier negotiations and input your experiences into this role. You will also need to be results focussed, able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels both internally and externally. You’ll act as a single point of contact with our resident contract organisations, therefore leadership and/mentoring experience is desirable.

Nuclear Safety is our overriding priority, so a good understanding of related policy and legislation is beneficial.

As a minimum, you will need to hold a HNC or equivalent in either a technical or business discipline to be eligible for this role (For example MCIPS qualification or working towards)

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
