Configuration Change Engineer
Full-Time, Permanent. Aztec West, Bristol, Hybrid minimum of 3 days a week onsite.
Step into the heart of the UK’s clean energy revolution. As a Configuration Change Engineer at EDF, you’ll be part of the team driving the delivery of Hinkley Point C—one of Europe’s most ambitious infrastructure projects. This is your chance to shape the future of nuclear energy, ensuring the design and build of a power station that will serve millions and stand the test of time.
The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As a Configuration Change Engineer, you’ll be a key player in the Plant Integration team, ensuring the design of HPC remains consistent, compliant, and aligned with UK regulations. You’ll help manage the “as-built” configuration of the plant, supporting the delivery of a project that’s central to the UK’s energy future.
Based at our Aztec West offices three days a week, with flexibility for remote working and occasional site visits, you’ll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain engineering excellence and nuclear professionalism throughout the project lifecycle.
Pay, Benefits & Culture
In addition to a competitive salary of £54,280, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.
At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.
We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.
We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the go-to expert for configuration management processes, supporting the Change Control Branch in coordinating activities across HPC. Your role will involve steering technical contributions, resolving design changes, and ensuring seamless integration of engineering inputs.
Acting as a key contact for Engineering Managers and Design Entities, you’ll guide the progression of configuration activities—from open points and referential changes to technical interface agreements. Your work will be vital in maintaining control and clarity across the project’s evolving design.
You’ll also help develop and maintain data-centric systems for managing design configuration, ensuring that handovers and updates are smooth, accurate, and aligned with project goals. Your input will directly impact the integrity and success of one of the UK’s most critical energy assets.
Who You Are
We’re seeking individuals with drive, adaptability, and strong stakeholder engagement skills—regardless of background. If you thrive in complex environments, communicate clearly, and build trusted relationships across teams, we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need to tick every technical box, but a degree in engineering or science, familiarity with configuration management, or experience in regulated industries would be beneficial. Knowledge of nuclear design, UK regulations, or data tools is a plus—but your mindset matters most.
You’re organised, proactive, and resilient. You value collaboration, take initiative, and aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo. If you’re curious, committed to excellence, and ready to help shape the UK’s energy future, we encourage you to apply.
Additionally, you must meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which generally requires you to have been a UK resident for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
Closing date for applications is Monday 25th August, interviews will follow shortly after.
