About the Role

Technical Advice Engineer

Are you ready to take your engineering career to the next level? Join us at Sizewell B Power Station as a Technical Advice Engineer and become part of a collaborative team that thrives on solving complex technical challenges. Whether you're from a mechanical background or another engineering discipline, your expertise can make a real difference in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our critical systems.

The Opportunity

As a Technical Advice Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities. Your technical insight will help maintain the reliability and safety of our plant systems.

You’ll take ownership of emerging technical issues, contribute to key station processes, and represent the maintenance department in cross-functional meetings. Depending on your experience, you may also become an authorised person for significant plant activities, supporting your professional development.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £61730 - £95993. You’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.  We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our plant operates safely and reliably by identifying and resolving short-term issues. Your expertise will guide the strategy for troubleshooting complex faults and leading resolution efforts.

Working closely with Defect Rectification Technicians and other station personnel, you’ll provide expert advice and collaborate on technical challenges. Your role will be instrumental in supporting system upgrades and commissioning new technologies.

You’ll also contribute to the development of robust maintenance procedures and participate in field-based technical activities, ensuring our operations remain efficient and forward-thinking.

Who You Are

You’ll bring a minimum of a HNC in Engineering or a related discipline, with an Honours Degree or progress toward Chartered Engineer status being a plus. Your solid grasp of engineering principles and ideally some familiarity with power station systems—whether electrical or mechanical—will be key.

Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is a flexible mindset that allows you to support a variety of tasks across the team. We provide a comprehensive training programme, including PWR-specific technical training, to support your growth and success in the role.

Closing date for applications is 21st July, interviews will follow shortly after.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Clearance (SC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 5 years.
