Station Contract Manager (12 Months Fixed Term Contract)

The Opportunity

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, whilst helping ensure that our Contractors support the safe and reliable operation of a nuclear plant?

Using your skills and knowledge in this line of work, as a Station Contract Manager on Heysham 1 you’ll lead the commercial management of allocated contracts, including supplier appraisal, development of specifications, tender preparation, tender assessment, negotiation, contract placement and claim management.

You will hold and manage the contract expenditure budget on behalf of the Station and be a focal point and single point of instruction between EDF Energy and the contractor.

Pay, benefits and culture:

The salary range associated with this role is between £45,641 to £81,263 and you’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. What you’ll be doing

As a Station Contract Manager, you will:

  • Ensure all activities comply with agreed safety and environmental standards and expectations.
  • Support the provision of a controlled and stable supply chain environment through the application of agreed procurement strategies.
  • Provide commercial leadership for allocated contracts ensuring ‘value for money’ by conducting supplier appraisals, supporting development of specifications, tender preparation etc.
  • Have oversight of contract performance, coordination, management and reporting of all contractor activity in accordance with targets set for safety, quality, delivery (time) and cost.
  • Identifying, understanding and managing commercial risks and, when appropriate, seeking support from our central organisation, to minimise the company’s risk exposure.

Who you are

  • You will have proven experience of contract management and supplier negotiations and will be results focussed as well as able to communicate with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally. You will act as a single point of contact with our resident contract organisations; therefore, leadership/mentoring experience is desirable.
  • Nuclear Safety is our overriding priority, so a good understanding of related policy and legislation is beneficial.

As a minimum, you will need to hold a HNC or equivalent in either a technical or business discipline. If you hold, or are studying towards, CIPS/MCIPS you may have an advantage.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.
