About the Role

Join EDF as a Software Engineer (Full-Stack) and power the future of energy through innovative tech! We're working on large-scale, customer-facing applications that impact millions of our customers. If you’re looking to shape your career while making an impact in a Net Zero future, this is your next big move.

The Opportunity

  • Impactful Projects: You’ll build solutions that directly serve millions of customers. Whether you’re diving into the EnergyHub (our customer energy analytics platform) or migrating parts of our website to a modern stack, your work will be visible, impactful, and meaningful.
  • Modern Tech Stack: Work hands-on with AWS serverless architecture, Terraform, TypeScript, and React. We use a “you build it, you run it” approach, empowering teams to own the full lifecycle from design to deployment and beyond.
  • Continuous Growth: Develop your skills through AWS certification vouchers, seminars, and reimbursed courses. With time allotted for learning and growth, you'll keep advancing in the latest tech.

What You’ll be doing

  • End-to-End Ownership: Lead the charge on software delivery, backlog management, and solution design within agile, DevOps-focused squads.
  • Tech Stack: AWS, Terraform, TypeScript, React, automated testing, and Dynatrace.
  • CI/CD and Testing: We utilize GitHub actions, Terraform, Jest/Vitest, Cypress/Playwright.

Who you are

  • Backend: You'll work on our Integration with SaaS solutions. You'll feel at home using data, building pipelines, deployment, wrangling API’s (REST/GraphQL) and event driven architectures (using EventBridge). You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership for the full software development life cycle, from concept, to design, to deployment into the business.
  • Frontend: You'll work on our customer facing web applications and internal staff facing web applications. They're based on React and TypeScript, hosted on S3 and utilise micro frontends and EDF-shared front end libraries. Accessibility compliance and reliability (thorough tests) are required.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary from £63,000, potential to earn 5% bonus, 28 days holiday plus bank holidays and a market-leading pension scheme, we offer a range of flexible benefits to support our people across all aspects of their lives.

Your rewards package includes a choice of benefits, such as electric vehicle leasing, enhanced parental leave, health insurance, discounts and employee pricing.

Flexible working means you can work from home (if you wish) and we’ll provide a suite of IT equipment to ensure that you can work remotely comfortably and effectively. Our Software Engineering team can work flexibly from home or the office, balancing the working day with personal commitments. We have offices in London, Brighton and Exeter.

At EDF, everyone’s welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application, making adjustments as you need.

We’ll value the difference you bring and offer opportunities for you to thrive and succeed.

Our Principal Engineer Steve Bowerman says: “It’s an exciting time.  We’ve got a great start-up culture in a larger organisation, with the corporate stability and backing. And that real emphasis on being able to affect change is very important for me.”
