The opportunity
As our next Mechanical & Electrical Supervisor (NEC & FIDIC), you will play a key role in ensuring quality compliance throughout the Mechanical and Electrical phase of the HPC Project. You will be responsible for overseeing construction, installation, and project-related activities, ensuring they align with the NNB Surveillance Strategy and the FIDIC and NEC contract requirements.
Reporting to the Site Quality Surveillance Manager, you will work closely with site-wide quality surveillance teams, coordinating efforts across commercial management, planning, project monitoring, and client liaison. Your ability to collaborate effectively and maintain the highest standards of quality and compliance will be essential to the successful delivery of this phase of the project.

What you’ll be doing
As a Mechanical & Electrical NEC & FIDIC Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the structure, procedures, and strategies for NEC Supervisors within Multi-Disciplinary Teams. Acting as a Team Leader for the Mechanical & Electrical phase, you will oversee quality surveillance, compliance, and equipment installation activities, ensuring alignment with EDF Standard Project Procedures and Safety Procedures. Collaborating with the Site Quality Surveillance Team and other leaders, you will help define best practices and procedural frameworks to drive efficiency and consistency across the project.
Recognised as an expert in your field, you will manage a team of Construction Superintendents and Field Engineers, ensuring all on-site activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. With your technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills, you will play a critical role in delivering a successful Mechanical & Electrical phase while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational excellence. Additional roles and responsibilities include:
- Proactively communicate with other site teams (H&S, contract, project controls, logistics), Quality Managers and Delivery Managers to maintain good communication links, and ensure activity is well and timely reported.
- Ensure the team of Construction Superintendents and Field (Mechanical) Engineers achieve a broad range of competence to deliver their areas of accountability and responsibility.
- Contribute information on specific area to weekly and monthly reports, as well as issuing and maintaining performance and KPI indicators.
- Liaise with the Site Quality Surveillance Manager to advise of any issues that come to light that should be addressed contractually, such as, issues requiring notices and provide advice to project.
- Develop an understanding of the design document and drawing approvals processes to understand what documents are approved for construction and installation activities.
- Check decisions are not taken “in the field” by EDF Energy or contractors but are considered and approved via a formal process.
- Check that each package has an approved Quality Control Plan and risk assessments are in place prior to Works commencement and ensure that Contractors are complying with such Plans.
- Ensure Surveillance activities monitor that construction and installation drawings are approved and fit for construction.
- The M&E, NEC, FIDIC Supervisor will be a staunch advocate of our Nuclear Safety Culture and help to embed this approach in all processes and activities undertaken on the Project
Who you are…
To excel in this role, you will need extensive technical expertise in Mechanical, Welding, NDT, HVAC, and Electrical activities within the nuclear industry, combined with strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills. With experience delivering large-scale, complex projects, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful installation, construction, and commissioning of key Mechanical and Electrical systems within a high-security nuclear environment.
Key requirements include:
- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with a Nuclear and Management qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience.
- Proven expertise in the installation, construction, and erection of large Mechanical and Electrical Equipment within Nuclear Power Plants.
- Strong knowledge of NPP equipment installation, including Reactors, Vessels, Piping Systems (carbon and stainless steel), Steam Turbines, Pumps, Heaters, Tanks, Generators, and Transformers.
- Experience working in high-security environments, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety and security regulations.
- Strong organisational, delegation, and communication skills to effectively manage site operations, teams, and stakeholders.
- Understanding of design obligations under CDM Regulations and familiarity with the document and drawing approval process.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for data management, reporting, and coordination.
- Knowledge of French would be advantageous.
- Experience in Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) Nuclear Power Plants, with specific experience in EPR Design being beneficial.
