The Opportunity

EDF Wholesale Market Services (WMS) is a core business line within the EDF UK Customers Business, that is at the centre of helping Britain achieve Net Zero. It provides industry leading wholesale market services to EDF’s supply and generation business units and to third party energy asset owners. The team operates in a broad and diverse range of market segments including residential & business supply, nuclear, renewable & thermal generation and storage & flexible energy.

We are looking for a talented Senior Analyst to join the Hedging Strategy and Operations (HSO) team, developing and maintaining hedging strategies for the Customer and Generation portfolios, as well as ensuring the positions hedged to are correct.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be developing and implementing hedging strategies, evaluating movements in positions and understanding why they have occurred, in the context of the hedging strategies that are applied.

You’ll be working with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure a current and clear understanding of their strategic priorities and hedging requirements. Whilst providing guidance and analytical support to the trading and hedging teams.

Continuously reviewing the performance of hedging activity to provide insight, identify and implement improvements to strategies, and drive performance. Also producing reports that are clear, accurate and provide insight on performance, exposures, and risks. Then presenting clearly with compelling stories, to help drive decision making, utilising relevant data.

Who you are

Our market is fast paced, highly intricate, and constantly evolving. To thrive in this role, you’ll need exceptional analytical ability, a sharp grasp of complex problems, and the skill to translate detailed data into clear and strategic actions. You’ll be expected to think quickly, exercise sound judgment, and make connections others might miss. Possessing excellent excel skills and attention to detail. Experience with Python and/or SQL, statistics, and data visualisation is desirable.

You’ll have previous operational experience, coupled with strong commercial acumen. You’ll be working across a broad and sophisticated range of portfolios and hedging strategies, so comfort with complexity is essential. You should be confident dissecting ambiguity, solving problems with precision, and bringing clarity to challenging scenarios. Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must, along with the ability to challenge assumptions, influence decisions, and contribute fresh, well-reasoned perspectives.
