About the Role

The Role

This position is an exciting opportunity to join EDF Heat Pumps (formerly CB Heating), which is a well-established SME that has recently been acquired by EDF, providing investment and growth opportunities on a wider scale.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead, develop and deliver health, safety & environmental best practices, systems and frameworks across EDF Heat Pumps and the activities it delivers to its stakeholders and customers. This includes EDF Heat Pumps employees based in offices, at home and in the warehouse, and our contractor partners that undertake installation work across the UK.

The post holder will be responsible for setting HS&E standards across the business and influencing the senior management team to ensure we deliver our aim of ZERO HARM both internally and externally with our contractor partners and other key stakeholders.  

Although the day-to-day management of the post holder will be undertaken through EDF Heat Pumps, the post holder will also have a ‘dotted line’ into the EDF HS&W team. This will give the post holder the opportunity to network and work with other HS&W professionals across a large utility organisation.

 

Principal Accountabilities

The successful candidate will be the senior point of reference for all HS&E matters, and provide authoritative HS&E advice to Directors, and other leaders across the business.  They will have shared responsibility to drive forward the leadership of HS&E at all levels across the organisation, ensuring that health, safety, and environment remains a top priority and that the senior management team are fully engaged in health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental leadership.  

They will support the development and delivery of our strategy for systems, culture, and assurance to reach ZERO HARM by championing relevant action plans, interventions, and campaigns to achieve continual improvement in our HS&E performance.  They will also develop appropriate HS&E policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all HS&E legislation, regulations and EDF obligations.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

The post holder will require strong leadership skills together with extensive knowledge of health, safety & environmental legislation & management of risk, including Construction, Design and Management Regulations (CDM 2015).  They will need to demonstrate experience of developing, reviewing, and monitoring HS&E management systems and procedures to ensure they remain effective.

You will need to be familiar with ISO 9001, 45001 and 14001 certifications including evidence of successfully leading the external surveillance and re-certification together with experience in developing & implementing HS&E risk-based strategies and action plans.

You will need the ability to work effectively as part of a management team and have experience of building effective relationships internally at all levels and with external stakeholders.

You will need to hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.  Ideally, you will be a Chartered member of IOSH or working towards this.
