The Opportunity

EDF is at the forefront of the UK's transition to a low-carbon future. As an Emergency Planning Officer, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our sites are always ready to respond to emergencies and significant events. Your work will help maintain business continuity and safeguard our operations.

You’ll develop and implement emergency preparedness standards across our fleet, drawing on legislation, national policy, and real-world learning.

This role offers flexibility in location with regular travel across our sites, working closely with teams to embed best practices and deliver meaningful improvements.

Please note, this is a 2 year fixed term contract.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £61,730 - £81,263. What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be at the heart of our emergency planning efforts, ensuring our sites are prepared to respond effectively to any incident. From coordinating emergency response readiness to working with government agencies and regulators, your role will be both strategic and hands-on.

You’ll lead the development and deployment of emergency preparedness standards across the fleet, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. You’ll also manage critical systems, budgets, and IT projects that support our emergency response capabilities.

This role is about making a real difference—ensuring our people, facilities, and systems are ready for anything. You’ll collaborate with site teams and national working groups to embed best practices and maintain high standards of readiness.

Who You Are

You’ll bring a relevant HNC or equivalent experience in emergency preparedness, along with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements such as Licence Condition 11 and REPPIR. Your ability to lead improvement initiatives and manage complex projects will be key to your success.

You’ll have experience managing budgets and emergency scheme activities, and ideally, a background in emergency facilities and equipment. You’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively, and is committed to continuous improvement and safety.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
