The Opportunity

The Portfolio Operations team sits at the heart of EDF, balancing energy supply with customer demand through accurate forecasting, strategic hedging, and active trading. They manage financial risk, optimise market opportunities, and support large business customers in real time—ensuring EDF stays agile and well-positioned in a fast-moving energy market.

As the Data Engineer in the Curve Trading Performance & Insight team, you’ll develop pipelines and data models that enables EDF to monitor and improve the performance of its trading operations.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll develop and maintain a suite of high-quality pipelines and tools required by the Curve Trading Performance & Insight team to report on the commercial performance of the department.

Working collaboratively with commercial analysts and key stakeholders, you will shape data solutions that drive performance and unlock new analytical capabilities. You will ensure all solutions follow best practice in code quality, version control and documentation.

As a Data Engineer, you’ll support the adoption of new technologies, including data science techniques and cloud platforms to improve efficiency and insight.

Who you are

We’re looking for a technically strong data engineer who enjoys solving problems, building clean data structures and working in a collaborative, commercially focused environment.

You will have experience working with Snowflake and Matillion, leveraging these tools to design, build and optimise data pipelines and workflows.

Beyond the technical ability, we’re looking for somebody who can think commercially, understanding the broader business impact of data solutions and delivering insights that drive value. Excellent collaboration skills are essential, as this role involves working closely with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams across the business.
