What you’ll be doing
You will lead a team of up to 20 technical staff responsible for the safe and effective commissioning of Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems at Hinkley Point C. This includes delivering key project milestones while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, schedule, and cost. Close collaboration with other I&C Commissioning Managers will be essential to align priorities and support the success of the wider delivery team.
The role involves developing and implementing commissioning processes and procedures in line with best practices from INPO and WANO, as well as UK and French regulatory frameworks. You’ll work closely with EDF specialists and maintain active liaison with UK nuclear regulators to ensure standards are met. Supporting strategic workforce planning, you'll also contribute to the creation of detailed short-, medium-, and long-term resourcing plans.
In addition to overseeing delivery, you will help shape training programmes to ensure team members achieve the required UK qualifications. Encouraging cross-functional collaboration and simplification of processes will be key to improving site productivity. You will also support broader delivery efforts including contractor oversight, contract management, and issue resolution, playing a vital role in the project’s long-term success.
Who you are
You will have a strong technical background in industrial, power generation, or process engineering, along with hands-on experience in Instrumentation & Controls (I&C). You’ll have a proven track record of leading technical teams, delivering complex projects in regulated environments, and operating within strong safety and quality cultures.
We’re looking for someone with clear and confident communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to varied audiences. You will bring an understanding of the safety case process and design substantiation, along with commercial awareness of how project changes can impact delivery, helping to ensure effective and informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Ideally you will hold a degree (or equivalent) in an Instrumentation & Control engineering discipline, with Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition. It would be beneficial to have hands-on experience commissioning nuclear plant systems and leading teams in a programme-driven project environment. A solid understanding of complex plant commissioning and familiarity with nuclear or process plant operations will also be highly valuable.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date for applications: 15th June 2025
