About the Role

Ageing Management Lead - Electrical and Control & Instrumentation

Are you ready to shape the future of nuclear energy? Join EDF UK at Sizewell B and lead the charge in ensuring our electrical and control systems are primed for long-term success. Your expertise will help secure safe and efficient operations well into the future.

The Opportunity

EDF Nuclear Operations is embarking on a transformative journey to deliver long-term value for Sizewell B. This role is pivotal in developing and evidencing the case for Long Term Operation (LTO) ahead of 2035, through strategic investment and robust ageing assessments.

As part of the dedicated Lifetime Group, you’ll lead the electrical and control & instrumentation aspects of LTO. Collaborating with a team of passionate engineers, you’ll ensure our plant continues to operate safely and effectively for years to come.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £61,730 - £95,993. You’ll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.  We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

As one of our Engineering Lifetime team members, you will:

  • Provide governance and oversight over LTO related programmes
  • Lead the Ageing Assessment of electrical and control & instrumentation components – ensuring readiness for LTO
  • Be a ‘customer’ for investment works, acting as Intelligent Customer and, potentially, Responsible Engineer
  • Identify and communicate programme risks and mitigate these through corrective actions
  • Provide technical expertise and knowledge, ensuring robust ageing management programmes are in place and will remain relevant for LTO
  • Take part in external international forums and communities relevant to ageing management.
  • Support Station outage (plant Shutdown) preparation and outage delivery.

Who You Are

You’ll bring a strong foundation in engineering, with a minimum qualification of HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline. A relevant degree would be advantageous, but your practical experience and understanding of engineering principles are what truly matter.

Your knowledge of ageing management, Safety Case principles, and industry best practices will enable you to thrive in this role. You’re someone who values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, and you’re ready to make a meaningful impact in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Closing date for applications is 18th November. Interviews to follow shortly afterwards.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) which will, ordinarily, require you to have British residency for the last 3 years.
