The Opportunity…

 

The Commercial & Performance team is the nerve centre of the Retail organisation.  Doing amazing things with data is in our DNA and allows us to sense and surface key insights that both enable our operational teams to deliver outrageously good service and drive our commercial performance.  

 

As a Senior Commercial Analyst, you will a crucial role as a key commercial specialist, bringing strong business acumen to our metering market. You will possess a deep understanding of the drivers of value within our metering operating expenses (OPEX) and be adept at conducting complex commercial analyses. Your insights and recommendations will help strike the right balance between commercial objectives and operational needs. 

 
You will thrive in data-driven environments, working closely with teams such as Smart Metering Field Operations, Finance, and Retail to provide foundational commercial analytics that support informed decision-making across the business. 

 

Your role will involve leading commercial analysis across various scenarios, including future contracts, regulatory changes, and the entire asset lifecycle. By developing actionable scenarios, you will guide Retail teams in making optimal commercial decisions that safeguard our OPEX position and drive business success.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Strategic development – investigate potential impacts on OPEX across a range of topics, developing strategic business cases to be recommended to and agreed by the Exec team stakeholders 
  • Be the key commercial analysis interface within Retail and beyond – providing commercial business partnering across the wider Retail team and Finance in key areas, analysing potential risks and opportunities and providing mitigation or capitalisation recommendations 
  • Contract modelling – Analyse the commercial impacts of contract negotiations, supporting the supply chain process and contract implementation 
  • Cost recovery – monitoring and implementing the recovery of our metering operating expenses via our cost recovery framework 
  • Policy reviews – be the key commercial expert on regulatory changes, providing insight to support a business response to consultations and ensure any impact of any potential changes are modelled and included in forecasts
