We are looking for a proactive individual to join us as a Shift Engineer at our Gas Storage facility based near Crewe in Cheshire. You’ll be responsible for the import and export of high-pressure natural gas and manage a high degree of control automation within a regulated environment.

As part of your role, you will be preparing for plant maintenance, review risk assessments, method statements and issue associated documentations working within the confines of the Safety Management System. You’ll also be responsible for the operations of the site facilities on a continuous 24-hour basis, meaning a rotating shift pattern will be a part of this opportunity.

A high level of organisational skills is required for this role as you will need to manage communications with Trading and Control centres as well as schedule workload, carry out meetings, create work plans and distribute towards your peers.

We’re looking for you to have experience in an engineering environment and have comprehensive knowledge of working within a gas industry. With this, we’re looking for you to have a relevant technical or operational qualification such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 as well as this, relevant engineering qualifications such as HNC or other higher education courses would be essential for this role.

The storage cavities are spread across two active dairy farms located in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, Hole House (4 cavities) and Hill Top Farm (5 cavities). The storage site comprises approximately 28 hectares on Hole House farm and 33 hectares on contiguous Hill Top Farm.  The facility sits within our wider Thermal Generation business area which consists of Coal and Gas power stations based in Nottinghamshire.

We are a small site-based team with circa 45 people, our team delivers the full operation of the facility meaning that our people get a wide breadth of experience and opportunities within their day to day roles as well as involvement in site projects and outages.
