As the Wind Turbine Safety Rules and Technical Training Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of our Asset Operations portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee, support, and develop the EDFR WTSR (Wind Turbine Safety Rules) and In-House Technical Training initiatives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to safety and excellence in training.

What you’ll be doing

 

If you're not afraid of getting deeply involved with wind turbine safety rules and driving and implementing training programs, then this is the role for you. As the Wind Turbine Safety Rules and Technical Training Lead, you will support the implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of the EDF Renewables Safe System of Work (SSoW) across Onshore and Offshore Wind projects. This is a lead role, not just a coordination one, where you will oversee, support, and develop the EDFR WTSR (Wind Turbine Safety Rules) and In-House Technical Training initiatives.

 

  • Ensure compliance with local procedures related to Control of Hazardous Energy and Electrical Safety standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of new procedures and ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and inducted in their use and application.
  • Conduct initial and refresher training sessions on Wind Turbine Safety Rules for operational staff.
  • Provide technical support to Site Management, Supervisors, and technicians on mechanical and electrical safety and operational issues.
  • Representing EDF Renewables at industry working groups, SafetyOn, OSRG (Offshore Safety Reference Group), and other relevant platforms
  • Take ownership of the development and delivery of In-House Technical Training programs.  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety and quality standards

What do you need to be great at this role?

 

You’ll have sound knowledge in the application of UK based Wind Turbine Safety Rules, and in industry standard High Voltage Operating procedures and safety rules.

 

  • Strong understanding of the importance of compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in achieving business objectives.
  • Good understanding of renewable operations and the technical systems involved.
  • Familiarity with business processes and procedures within a wind turbine operations and maintenance company.
  • Experience of establishing / managing internal and external relationships.
  • Experience and underrating of the effective means to deliver operations and maintenance of wind turbine assets.
  • Strong understanding of the requirements for optimising the performance of a wind farm.
  • Demonstrated ability to support business growth initiatives through effective implementation of safety and training programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of wind turbine systems, including mechanical and electrical components, and their associated safety requirements.
  • Ability to deliver effective training sessions on Wind Turbine Safety Rules and other technical topics.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify safety hazards and propose solutions to mitigate risk.
  • Delivering and embedding change and continuous improvement
  • Robust and willing to deal with challenges in an operational environment.
  • Able to use data to measure the gap and progress towards resolution of issues.
  • Able to define key action plans, and milestones and hold self and other accountable to these
