EDF Renewables UK (“EDF RUK”) is one of the UK’s leading renewable energy companies, specialising in wind power and battery storage technology.  EDF RUK develops, builds, operates and maintains wind farms and other renewable technologies throughout their lifetime. The EDF RUK portfolio of nearly 1,000 MW consists of 35 wind farms – including two offshore wind farms – and one of the largest operational battery storage units in Europe. In addition, EDF RUK is seeking to deliver further growth from its own development pipeline or though securing new acquisitions of projects.


Our ambition is to be a distinctive and recognised leader in the UK and Ireland, developing our assets under operation to c.5GW by 2030. As part of the Central Technical Office (CTO) the EDF Renewables Engineering Team provides engineering governance, oversight and support for all asset typess across their lifecycle from origination to decommissioning.


The Senior Project Engineer – Offshore Wind will play a key role in delivering on our offshore ambitions. They will be responsible for providing project engineering, leadership and oversight across EDF Renewables Offshore Wind portfolio which includes a number of development projects (inc. 800MW+ Codling Project), construction projects (inc. 450MW NnG project), and operational sites.


The successful applicant will contribute to building a compelling vision for delivering Engineering Excellence in the CTO, Engineering Team, and the EDF Renewable Offshore Wind portfolio, demonstrating an ability to lead and add value to opportunities in a highly competitive and changing marketplace. They will work closely with the Principal Engineering Manager Business Growth to ensure technical support and guidance to Offshore Wind projects in delivery of EDF Renewables’ ambitions for operational excellence and growth.

Day to day:


  • Co-ordination and leadership of Engineering resource and activities for Offshore Wind.
  • Contributing to governance and support activities for Offshore Wind.
  • Ensuring Engineering activities in relation to EDF Renewables Offshore Wind portfolio are undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements and EDF Renewables’ policies including Zero Harm, Quality, Engineering, and Design Management, while focusing on optimisation and efficiency.
  • Embedding Engineering excellence, operational experience, and best available techniques into Offshore Wind engineering activities.
  • Embedding the consideration of risk and lifetime costs in all Engineering activities.
  • Ensuring that operational learning and operational requirements are key considerations in the origination, design and construction of offshore assets.
  • Understanding internal client needs and setting and delivering on the resulting team priorities.

The Person


You’ll be a proven leader / Senior Engineer with successful in delivering projects/programmes, establishing/managing relationships, securing and maintaining a safe environment, managing priorities, and inspiring and influencing behaviours and actions.

The Skills


•    Strong commitment to safety, health, environment and quality. 
•    Minimum of an engineering degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Chartered membership of an appropriate body would be an advantage.
•    NEBOSH or IOSH (or equivalent) is desirable.
•    Highly proficient in key areas of engineering in the offshore wind environment. 
•    Strong experience of managing risks and challenges in an industrial scale renewables environment.
•    Proven track record of building successful relationships with external partners, peers, stakeholders and reporting line.
•    Good command of Microsoft Office package (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, etc.).
•    Flexible to travel around the UK and overseas as the role requires.
•    Full clean driving licence.
•    Excellent (English) oral and written communication skills.
