Senior Port and Harbour Engineer
This a newly created role due to expansion! A very exciting opportunity to hold a key role in the first stages of development of new offshore wind farm projects.

As a Port and Harbour Senior engineer with the Offshore Technical Centre you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design, development, and optimisation of port and harbour facilities required primarily in support of EDF Renewables UK and Ireland offshore activities, and with the opportunity to support the wider EDF Renewables offshore community.

What you’ll be doing
The Port and Harbour Senior Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- During project development and early phases –

- Lead the need requisition for the ports and harbours (O&M base, construction base, logistic hub, etc.): design, planning & cost definition.
- Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and audits to identify suitable port and harbour facilities.
- Prepare the technical scope of work documents for port and harbour activities.

- During construction and installation phases:

- Assume responsibility for validating the technical design.
- Offer technical guidance and oversee the development of port and harbour facilities, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
- Implement quality control measures.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design teams, marine, O&M, supply chain, communities, relevant authorities etc.) to deliver and optimise the ports and harbours activities.
- Provide support to the team in obtaining the necessary authorisations and permits.
- Proactively identify risks and opportunities and manage the actions to mitigate and exploit them.
- Contribute to the development of the project schedule and budget.
- Participate in the technical Tender Evaluation and Supplier Selection processes in line with project and shareholder procurement requirements.
- Provide necessary support to Procurement, Commercial, Insurance and Legal teams as required.
- Ensure activities are undertaken in accordance with statutory requirements and EDF Renewables’ policies including Zero Harm, Quality, Engineering, and Design Management, while focusing on optimisation and efficiency.
- Stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in port and harbour engineering for offshore wind projects.
Who you are
- You’ll hold a formal qualification in Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering, or a related field with proven experience in port and harbour engineering, ideally within the offshore wind or maritime sectors.
- Be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer, or be working towards the same, with a relevant professional body.
- Have a deep understanding of marine construction, port infrastructure, and vessel operations.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes related to port development.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
- Experience in project management and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to adapt to changing project needs and solve complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Able to travel as required with a valid driving licence and passport.
