The Role

 

The commercial team in Ireland has the remit to cultivate new investment opportunities from origination (including acquisition projects) up to Final Investment Decision and hand-over to the Construction team.

 

The main focus of the team and that of the Business Development Manager role is driving the strategy for growth for the business as well as the hands-on origination, development and commercialisation of renewable energy projects, leading to the achievement of investment approval. The Senior Business Development Manager may lead M&A or Disposal projects or commercial work-streams on larger projects.

 

Day to day you will: 

 

•    Lead the Commercial team and be part of the overall leadership team within EDF Renewables Ireland 
•    Taking a lead role in strategy development for the Irish business to differentiate EDF Renewables Ireland from the competition
•    Identify commercial opportunities for new technologies
•    Identify innovative route to market opportunities and optimise revenue opportunities for renewable projects
•    Manage project internal governance processes for each project involving relevant internal stakeholders as appropriate. This will include project reporting on progress against key milestones.
•    Facilitate the decision making process during the key steps of the project: Investment Case Approval, pre-construction activities, start of construction, start of operations, procurement, project financing, etc.
•    Manage project budget and costs and appropriate project management documentation. 
•    Lead acquisition/disposal/partnership transactions including origination, due diligence, structuring, appraisal and the negotiation, review and execution of legal documentation to maximise opportunity and mitigate risks.
•    Produce reports and board papers to provide business update to the EDF RI board and shareholders on project progress and other key activities.
 

The Person

 

As Business Development Manager you will have a working knowledge and understanding of project life-cycles and risks for different renewable generation technologies (Wind, Solar, Battery) underpinned with a technical/commercially focused degree ideally with a postgraduate qualification in a numerate discipline or ability to demonstrate commensurate experience

 

Experience of co-ordinating activities and engagement across a  matrix structure (e.g. finance, analysis and legal teams) is essential to the role as will building and maintaining relationships with co-investors, market and financial advisers, policy makers and industry regulators.


Having managed multi-disciplinary subject-matter experts (e.g. engineering, procurement, legal etc) to de-risk projects and prepare them for investment decisions to secure a route to market and clear delivery plan prior to handover to construction for the project(s) you’ll experienced in driving the strategic growth of a renewables business
