The Opportunity

As Financial Accountant here at EDF Renewables you will play a pivotal role as part of the technical finance team.

This position serves as a critical bridge between the business operations and external auditors, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing statutory accounts and assisting the audit process in accordance with UK GAAP standards and will provide support to the consolidation team as needed.

You will also assist in offering expertise and guidance on technical accounting matters to various teams within the organisation, including interpretation of accounting standards, treatment of complex transactions, and resolution of accounting issues.

What you’ll be doing

You will be responsible for the preparation of the statutory accounts for EDF R UK and Ireland in accordance with the relevant standards (FRS 101 / FRS 102) in addition to:

  • Assist in audit preparations and provide support during external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries.
  • Consulting with other specialists such as the tax department, treasury department, hedging department, legal department to ensure compliance of EDF R UK & Ire.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, communicating effectively with stakeholders to address inquiries and provide updates.
  • Support the posting of some financial transactions in SAP at year end, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data entry and adherence to established accounting procedures.
  • Assist the Finance Senior / Manager in offering technical accounting assistance to the wider teams ensuring compliance with the relevant standards for complex transactions and any other accounting issues.
  • Assist the Finance Senior / Manager with the delivery of documentation on the team’s key processes.
  • Assist the consolidation with the clearing of controls in SAP FC when required.
  • Helping to manage the provision of internal governance, risk and control requirements to quality and time and identification and delivery of improvements in this process.
  • Ensuring accounting policies are successfully implemented and operating effectively across EDF R UK & Ire.
  • Initiating improvements to the reporting processes to achieve an efficient and effective reporting process.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required by the team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business needs.

What do you need to be great at this role?

You will hold an accounting qualification (ACA/ ACCA).

  • Knowledge of both UK GAAP and IFRS, experience of preparing or reviewing/ auditing statutory accounts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft apps.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge
  • Able to challenge the way things are done and look at ways to make improvements to the business
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Willingness to learn internal systems (SAP, SAP FC, Anaplan, Power BI)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting activities and be proactive.
  • Act with complete integrity and confidentiality



  • Understanding of accounting packages such as SAP/ SAP FC is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of the renewable energy industry is desirable.
