The opportunity
This key role serves as the focal point for all commercial matters within the department, ensuring minimal value leakage from signed contracts, optimising the design of new agreements, and enhancing our commercial management framework. Your contributions will directly support the growth and success of the UK&I renewables onshore business.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels across the UK&I teams, you’ll proactively ensure that contract requirements are met, and their impacts are successfully managed to align with broader business objectives.

What you’ll be doing
This role offers the opportunity to shape commercial strategies that underpin the success of EDF’s renewable energy ambitions while building strong cross-functional relationships within a forward-thinking, purpose-driven organization.
- Oversee the day-to-day coordination of our commercial management efforts, including those services provided currently provided by an outsourced partner.
- Lead governance for commercial management, ensuring contract delivery aligns with EDF governance requirements and supports project and business goals.
- Collaborate with project delivery teams to achieve project deliverables, monitor KPIs, and drive performance in areas such as programme delivery, cost control, and value engineering.
- Support the procurement process during the pre-award phase and provide commercial management expertise throughout contract execution (post-award).
- Providing accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting to completion in line with budget and then driving improvements in the accuracy of forecasts and budgets
- Pro-actively monitoring and managing cost variance and contract cash flow and ensuring that applications are made correctly and in a timely manner.
What do you need to be great at this role?
You’ll have effective commercial / contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies and demonstrable an ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value in addition to:
- Ability to demonstrate a considerable track record of administering successful contracts.
- Strong understanding of contract performance measurement, risk management and change and claim management within governance parameters and adopting best practice.
- A track record with most common forms of contract (e.g. NEC, JCT and FIDIC) within the construction and infrastructure environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.
- Capability to drive change into traditional stakeholder relationships and gather business support for new ways of working that create value for the business.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and geographies to form alignment.
- Being an expert in creating and delivering longer term plans and outcomes.
- Having excellent negotiation skills and the ability to proactively challenge and influence key stakeholders.
- Good written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate at all levels.
- A collaborative approach.
- Leading by example, being resilient and able to navigate complex challenges & deal with ambiguity.
Ideally you will have previous experience within the renewables or power construction industry and major projects and programme environment.
