Technical Resolution Lead

Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. Hybrid, 3 days per week on site to be discussed.

Are you an experienced engineer with proactive problem-solving skills? Do you thrive on building professional networks and working with a wide range of stakeholders? Are you looking for a new opportunity on a fast-paced project, where you can really make a difference?

If so, we have the role for you!

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are constructing two new nuclear reactors, marking the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK. Once operational, these reactors will provide low-carbon electricity to power around six million homes.

The Joint Design Office (JDO) was created to address engineering issues that arise once the design of HPC is released to the site. The JDO works collaboratively to manage design activities, supporting construction and installation.

To address the expanding workload, we are growing our team and seeking a Technical Resolution Lead to meet the project’s current needs. Our team is flexible and adaptable, ensuring the timely resolution of issues as they arise, and this is a great opportunity to gain exposure to different aspects of the project.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary from £55,000 (negotiable depending on experience), and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

You will join the Technical Resolution team (as part of the wider JDO), responsible for resolving technical issues where no clear area of responsibility exists. When issues identified in one area affect others, you will take the lead in managing solutions. In some cases, the JDO will directly provide solutions to ensure the project continues smoothly.

You will perform design change surveillance, approve design changes, and contribute to safety case assurance. Additionally, you will deliver technical solutions and provide weekly reports to ensure continuous progress. As you work closely with stakeholders across the project, you will help maintain design integrity while navigating project pressures.

Who you are

You should hold a relevant engineering degree (or have equivalent experience) and should be motivated and proactive with a flexible approach to problem solving.

You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have a talent for managing numerous stakeholders. You are highly organised, skilled at building strong relationships across teams, and adaptable to a wide range of technical topics.

You demonstrate strong leadership skills, inspiring junior team members to deliver high-quality work while upholding safety and design integrity throughout the project.

While not essential, knowledge of the nuclear industry or experience working towards chartership would be beneficial.

Closing date for applications: 17th October 2024

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
