The Opportunity…

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C EPR project, EPR-e covers the whole scope of the plants the Balance of Nuclear Island (BNI) and the Conventional Island (CI) and Balance of Plant (BoP).  EDVANCE still provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of Nuclear Island (BNI). CNEPE delivers similar works for the Conventional Island (CI) and Balance of Plant (BoP).

The Joint Design Office (JDO) is part of the HPC Engineering Directorate. The JDO gathered members from the Client and from the Responsible Designer. All members of JDO representing the Responsible Designer are part of EPR-e Within its scope of delegated authority, the JDO provides technical support to the HPC site for the resolution of technical challenges and issues arising during construction works as well as erection, commission and testing. The JDO is also in charge of the resolution of open points and design changes which haven’t been closed prior to site activities.
