The Opportunity


We are currently looking to recruit a Mechanical / Structures Engineering Lead  to join the Joint Design Office (JDO). JDO has been created to reinforce the HPC site-based engineering to quickly respond to engineering queries and problems coming from site construction, to deliver the schedule and to deliver an increased scope of work. A primary benefit of this organisation is to save time for construction on site by having reactive answers and solutions to pursue their activities. 

 

If successful you will be reporting to the Review & Acceptance Discipline Lead within the JDO, the post-holder will be an Engineering Lead for the Pools / Tanks / Liners / Steelworks scope. This scope covers mainly the manufacturing and the construction on site of the reactor containment liner, the reactor pool and the spent fuel pool, the different large tanks (ASG, RRI, RBS, KER, TER, etc.), and the steelworks installed across all buildings.

 

As a Mechanical / Structures Engineering Lead you will be  interfaced with several parties, such as site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, Welding / Metallurgist Experts, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).
 

The Role

 

Your main responsibility will include: 

 

•    Approving and coordinate technically the answers produced and/or reviewed by R&A Engineers to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the Contractors on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer and Site Experts.
•    Ensuring consistent technical management across buildings and disciplines in the resolution of site queries and closure of design Open Points.
•    Contributing to the handover packages when equipment is delivered on site to ensure overall and consistent technical management.
•    Providing adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety requirements are met.
•    Assessing technical risk and subsequently addresses this risk.
•    Animating a small team of R&A engineers on the  Pools / Tanks / Liners / Steelworks scope.
 

The Skills

 

•    Good mechanical, structure or welding experience
•    Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
•    Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
•    Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
•    Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
•    Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
•    Leadership aptitudes.
•    Good communication aptitudes.
