The Opportunity

 

As a Mechanical Assurance Lead, you’ll assist and oversee the technical support operations of the Hinkley Point C project as well as supporting construction assets across the site. You’ll need to respond quickly to emerging unplanned issues in service areas like transport, catering, facilities management, and utilities, ensuring service continuity, restoration and prioritisation are handled efficiently alongside supporting the overall project needs.

 

As part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) that integrates logistical and business support functions, you will be expected to work closely with contractors across a breadth of issues. As the Mechanical Assurance lead, you’ll be required to act as Subject Matter Expert in Pre-Construction Planning and strategies to maintain project goals.

What you’ll be doing

 

You will be working within the Site operations Team who are a close support function to the project. As part of the team you will be tasked with assisting in the provision of site infrastructure, utilities and services. Your role will be to support construction by providing support to site infrastructure and services. This could be as diverse as ensuring that the Hinkley Point C site meet the required technical standards to reviewing contractors working procedures.

 

You will act as the Subject Matter Expert for Mechanical disciplines. Knowledge and experience of Safety Rules would be highly advantageous as we move to the management of Plant and systems. Specific experience in Cranes, Pressurised systems and …….. are highly desirable.

 

In addition to the above you will be tasked with setting technical standards for the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems. There are a blend of both permanent infrastructure and temporary plant that will require your assistance with bringing into service and subsequent life cycle support. You will oversee compliance with these technical standards and provide assurance that required standards have been met.

 

 

Who you are

 

As a Mechanical Assurance Lead on the Hinkley Point C Project, you’ll need a solid understanding of key statutory Health and Safety Regulations along with an understanding of Construction Design Management Regulations.

 

A solid grounding in Mechanical engineering principles and disciplines is expected as a matter of course backed by a suitable Engineering degree or a similar qualification, with the ability to apply your technical knowledge in practical situations. Being a member of a professional body like IMechE is beneficial.

 

We’re looking for someone with strong knowledge of regulations, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a regulated environment while effectively communicating with stakeholders at all levels. Along with you technical ability, it is worth note that you will be joining a well-established team where a mature, pragmatic and personable approach would serve you well.
