Full-Time, Permanent. 3-4 days on site and 1-2 days working from home or other offices.

Are you experienced in developing innovative solutions to complex mechanical or electrical engineering challenges, passionate about staying updated with the latest advancements in engineering technologies and skilled in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as an Engineer here at Hinkley Point C!

The Opportunity

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be part of our programme to build the skills required to support us with our EPR2 build in France. As part of this programme, you’ll spend a few years at HPC in the UK based either on site or at one of our satellite offices in Bridgwater or Bristol. During this time you’ll further develop your mechanical and electrical engineering skills at HPC, typically in pivotal roles across our delivery teams. The ultimate objective of the programme is for you to build your EPR2 expertise and join our fast-growing new nuclear business in France.

As a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer, you'll take on the pivotal role in assessing and approving design modifications suggested by site contractors, ensuring they align with the designer's justifications.

What you will be doing…

As part of a vibrant and multidisciplinary team, you'll play a crucial role in representing the intelligent customer function for the HPC project. With EDF's ambitious plans to construct and operate new EPRs in the UK as well as in France, these roles  offer a unique opportunity to shape the future of Nuclear Power Generation. Typical   responsibilities in these roles may  include:

•    Utilise your comprehensive knowledge of Turbine Hall systems, nuclear and environmental safety cases.
•    Ensure compliance with Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements through vigilant oversight.
•    Review and approve non-conformances and design changes during plant construction.
•    Independently work to meet internal customer needs efficiently and effectively.
•    Foster strong relationships with EDF Engineering (Responsible Designer) and regulatory bodies.
•    Coordinate support from external organisations as necessary.
•    Serve as the primary interface with regulators to support proposed electrical system design.

Who you are…

  • You will need strong technical engineering skills based on mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines ideally on large engineering/infrastructure projects. An understanding of EPR design and the nuclear fuel cycle would be of benefit and a good knowledge of the UK Nuclear Regulations and Legislation.
  • You’ll be motivated, self-starting and pragmatic with the ability to work across multiple discipline teams in driving the development, implementation and resolution of technical topics and issues. You will also understand the bigger picture and be able to develop and execute innovative approaches to delivery, for the benefit of the project.
  • With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety, you will play a pivotal role in approving supplier designs and upholding safety case compliance, all while driving the project towards key milestones so previous experience in this would be advantageous.
