Interim Financial Control Analyst

The Opportunity

 

We are currently recruiting a Financial Control Analyst to provide direct support to the Financial Control Managers across HPC’s Programmes and Functions. This will be up to 18-month Fixed Term Contract to start asap. Please note, this role will be based from Hinkley Point C site. As part of the financial control team the Financial Control Analyst provides analytical support that enables the Financial Control team to provide challenge, assurance and reporting of financial performance to present a single version of the truth to the HPC leadership and external stakeholders.

 

The HPC Project is one of Europe’s largest construction projects with over £19bn capital investment and the first new nuclear build in the UK within private ownership. Part of its revenue will be provided through a Contract for Difference with a public body entity. The size of the CFD deal across its lifetime is in excess of £100bn and is the first contract of its kind. 


 
Hinkley Point C is now in the Construction phase of the programme and construction is delivered across 6 core programmes; Nuclear Island, Conventional Island, Civils, Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC, Equipment and Commissioning. Each Programme is led by a Programme Director supported by a multidisciplinary team including Project Managers and functional support. The Project is also supported by other functions including Engineering, Site Operations & Support Functions. 

The Person

As the HPC Financial Control Analyst you will provide support to the Finance Control Manager in optimising financial performance of programmes/functions, anticipating and providing the necessary analytics required to enhance the collaboration. You will work collaboratively with the Finance Centre of Excellence, planning and reporting team and project controls to obtain the necessary data and information to support the management information required to deliver the team objectives. As analysts you may support more than one financial control manager, they will need to be able to work autonomously in prioritising and managing their workload and managing expectations of the financial control managers when delivering work. The HPC Financial Control Analyst for this role is primarily aligned to Site Operations.
      

The key duties that the successful candidate will be required to carry out are:

 

•    Manage the delivery and presentation of timely, accurate and relevant management information to enable the effective management of the appropriate business units, including actual and forecast P&L and investment
•    Own the monthly financial reporting cycle for Site operations including preparation of the actual cost of work performed, monthly forecasting and support to help deliver monthly accountability processes
•    Facilitate the control of budgets, accruals, recoveries, headcount and investment proposals and reporting
•    Provide an effective business planning, financial monitoring and reporting service 
•    Challenge budget holders on financial performance and identify opportunities for cost savings
•    Undertake and manage ad-hoc projects 
•    Investigate and resolve payment issues, identifying process improvements and ensuring an effective working with HPC Commercial and Centre of Excellence. 
•    Validate data submissions for auditors, annual statutory accounts, corporation tax, VAT returns and other regulatory returns and provide necessary co-ordination with the HPC Project team to allow the timely and accurate completion of these returns and audit requirements. 
•    Support project and programme managers with investment appraisal, in compliance with the EDF financial procedures.
