The Opportunity


We are currently looking to recruit a Hold Point Manager, who will be responsible for delivery of evidence to allow timely discharge of a number of Primary and Secondary hold points owned by the HPC Nuclear Island Area, Site and Civil function.  This includes project management of other functions to deliver the right quality of evidence to programme for release of the hold points.


This role will require you to support the Hinkley Point C project which is the largest infrastructure project in Europe. As such this is a fast paced, large scale and complex operation. The Suitable candidate would be someone who can adapt and respond to changes emanating from the construction activities. 


You will play a key role in ensuring the adequacy of evidence presented for release of tertiary hold points on HPC construction site and will be instrumental in facilitating the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s flexible permissioning process when required.


On top of your main responsibilities you will interface with other elements of the programme as well as build strong stakeholders’ relationships. You will have to be able to influence and work with others to achieve joint project goals. You will also be required to mentor and support newly identified Hold Point owners in other programmes as to the best way to manage successful and timely release of their hold points. 


This role would be perfect for someone with good understanding and previous experience with UK regulatory environments and engineering background.


The Person


Day to Day Responsibilities: 


•    Own and lead the timely delivery of release of defined hold points to the right quality standards.
•    Manage successful delivery of evidence from multiple stakeholders across the business.  This will require the individual to be able to influence stakeholders outside their direct control at more senior levels of the business as well as influencing peers.
•    Challenge the evidence presented across a number of topics and provide feedback on the adequacy of evidence provided.
•    Balance the demands of the business against delivery workload to optimise release of hold points to meet programme requirements.
•    Coach and mentor the wider project on the implementation of HPC arrangements for managing and successfully releasing hold points to support the continuation of construction and commissioning activities at HPC site.
•    Lead presentation and justification of the evidence to the Hold Point Panel, Delivery team and Regulators as appropriate.
•    Oversee the quality of evidence provided to manage and release identified tertiary holdpoints at HPC site.
•    Set the direction to allow timely and effective discharge of ONR’s flexible permissioning at HPC site. 

The Skills

Essential Qualifications & Experience Knowledge and skills


•    Good knowledge and understanding of UK regulatory requirements and nuclear site licence compliance.
•    Ability to identify key internal and external stakeholders and decision makers, to influence delivery to the right quality on time across the project and wider EDF organisation
•    Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop a wide network across the business at all levels and build trust-based relationships across EDF Energy and the construction industry.
•    Ability to work independently and be proactive, recognising issues ahead of time and finding innovative solutions to unforeseen obstacles.
•    Demonstrable experience of problem-solving skills in technical topics.
•    Experience of managing delivery in a matrix management organisation.
•    Proven track record of delivering within a large project


Desirable Qualifications & Experience Knowledge and skills


•    University degree and/or equivalent qualification required, technical subject preferred.
•    Knowledge of ONR Nuclear Site Licence Conditions
•    Application of ONR flexible permissioning arrangements on a nuclear licensed site
