Health & Safety Advisor - Back & Nightshift
Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater. This is a permanent role, working on a back/night shift pattern.

The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK, providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll join a team dedicated to creating a safe, compliant, and positive workplace for all.
Working on HPC site, you’ll support the Client and Principal Contractor management teams by providing expert guidance, conducting risk-based monitoring, and helping shape a culture of safety excellence on a site with over 10,000 workers at its peak.

Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a starting salary from £62,000 - £72,000 (negotiable depending on experience), you’ll be entitled to a shift working allowance of circa £12,000 per annum.
Please note that as this is a permanent position within EDF, we are unable to provide support for travel or accommodation expenses for this role.

What you’ll be doing
- Participating in creating, maintaining, and improving health and safety in the workplace.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
- Developing and maintaining project-based risk profiles to inform inspections and assurance activities.
- Conducting site inspections, audits, and accident investigations, ensuring adherence to the construction phase plan.
- Delivering health and safety training, briefings, and information to enhance awareness and build capability.
- Participating in constructability, maintainability, and operability reviews as a subject matter expert.
- Driving behavioural safety initiatives, engaging with contractors, and promoting zero tolerance for health and safety issues.
- Collaborating with peers to integrate effective policies and systems across disciplines.
Who you are
You’re a passionate safety professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams. You bring a practical and proactive approach to health and safety and are committed to driving continuous improvement.
- Significant HSE experience on large, complex projects.
- Expertise in Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 and national/international HSE standards.
- Proven track record of achieving outstanding safety results in major engineering and construction settings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical implementation.
- A NEBOSH HSE Diploma or equivalent and Tech IOSH membership (or similar).
- Experience coordinating contractors and resolving safety interface issues.
