Electrical Commissioning Technician

HPC - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week onsite.

Are you a time-served trade apprentice looking for a new opportunity? Do you want to shape the next generation of Nuclear Power Stations in the UK? Above all are you passionate about helping Britain achieve #NetZeroTogether?

If so – we have a role for you!

The Opportunity

We are seeking Electrical Commissioning Technicians to form part of an expanding team. This is a superb opportunity to drive the direction of your own future career and ongoing development, whilst meeting business needs. Once commissioning has completed it is anticipated that there may be future opportunities in Operations for the role holder.

As an Electrical Commissioning Technician, you will be carrying out a range of commissioning tests on electrical systems with a strong culture of nuclear & conventional safety. You will play a key role in successfully bringing Hinkley point C into operation.

Commissioning Technicians will form small teams to undertake commissioning tests on a day-to-day basis reporting the test team leader but be part of a much wider multidisciplinary team delivering commissioning activities. This will require teamwork, an eye for detail including following agreed test procedures and be willing to challenge any unsafe practices.

Pay, benefits and culture

Alongside a starting salary from £30,000 (depending on experience), and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.

We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What you’ll be doing

In your role, you will work with commissioning engineers to ensure successful test execution, and support test team leader’s in delivering commissioning tests to plan. You will help with the execution of testing activities, including working with other disciplines where required as part of multidisciplinary teams.

Reporting into the Senior Technician, you will ensure that all activities are carried out with full regard to site license requirements, statutory regulations, company and local directives, procedures, and safety rules.

Who you are

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals, with a strong focus on safety, to safely commission the Next generation of nuclear power stations.

We are looking for someone educated to ONC level in an electrical engineering subject (or equivalent experience) and you should have completed a trade apprenticeship to demonstrate practical experience.

You should be an organised & self-motivated individual, with a positive attitude and be able to contribute to a journey to excellence. You'll need drive, a sense of ownership and a “can do” attitude. You will be required to demonstrate the highest standards of nuclear professionalism and safety.

You will have experience of conducting commissioning tests, return to service tests, operational tests or maintenance tests and working in an industrial environment where safety hazards are tightly controlled and managed to ensure a Zero Harm.

If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!

Closing date for applications: 9th October 2024

Success is personal. It’s your journey, powered by us. Join us and we’ll help Britain achieve Net Zero, together.
