As a Conventional Safety Manager, you will be responsible for acting on behalf of the HPC Client, ensuring that all HPC activities are conducted in a way that protects the health and safety of the workforce and the public in line with our Zero Harm ambition.

What you’ll be doing...


  • Providing strong leadership across the project, co-ordinating Health & Safety activities and resources to ensure full compliance with agreed health and safety standards and expectations on behalf of the Client. 
  • Developing, defining and implementing appropriate Health & Safety strategy, policies and standards within the HPC project organisation throughout the project life cycle to ensure to ensure compliance with associated legal requirements and construction excellence.
  • Responsibility of ensuring the Project’s compliance with the obligations as stated in Construction (Design Management) Regulations 2015, in specific reference to the Client role.
  • Interfacing with external certification bodies and regulators as required. Undertaking audits, reviews, and assessments to identify and share best practices and shortcomings in arrangements to ensure that the project delivers to safety, quality, cost, and programme.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and learning processes and approaches to ensure Industrial Safety issues are resolved, and learnings are captured and disseminated within the wider project.
  • Reporting on progress with health and safety performance, safety incidents, perform root cause analysis and participate in health and safety progress reviews, develop NNB health and safety management policies, in line with international standards, company requirements and best practice, supporting compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Reporting on the status of health and safety on the project as required.
  • Ensuring high standards and quality of the Client’s arrangements in relation to managing health and safety.


Who you are…


Your background may include some of the following:

  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • Chartered Membership of Institution of Occupational Health and Safety (IOSH).
  • Detailed knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 – requirements to be compliant, and how to comply in an operational setting.
  • Demonstrable significant experience of operating as a senior leader in high hazard, complex, industrial construction projects.
  • Subject matter expert knowledge of health & safety practices within the construction industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of legal obligations within the construction industry for health and safety, allied to broad experience in interacting with regulators.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and data presentation.
  • 10 years industrial experience within a fast-paced project setting.
  • Experience with contractor management and engagement.
