If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Site Quality Surveillance Team as a Construction Superintendent here at Hinkley Point C!

 

 

The Opportunity

 

EDF is at the forefront of the UK's Nuclear New Build Programme, constructing Hinkley Point C in Somerset, which when operational will provide low carbon electricity to 6 million homes in the UK.

 

As a Construction Superintendent, you'll use your expertise to lead a team of Field Engineers (deemed as Practitioners) to carry out surveillance activities on the HPC Construction Site.

 

You'll help draft the Surveillance Programme for your discipline and ensure quality compliance in your designated section of the works.

What you’ll be doing

 

In this role, you'll lead a team of Field Engineers to ensure quality compliance within your section of the works, following NNB's surveillance strategy and related documents. You'll also:

 

  • Draft and support surveillance programmes and related documents as needed.
  • Ensure construction works comply with work information and notify stakeholders of defects before completion.
  • Review contractor performance against authorised inspection and test plans (ITP) and work information.
  • Submit details to the NEC Supervisor for quality-related amending documents.
  • Advise quality and delivery teams on quality, safety, and progress issues.
  • Maintain proactive communication with site teams and ensure timely activity reporting.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly reports, maintaining performance and KPI indicators.
  • Support safety and quality measures, taking actions to prevent work stoppages.
  • Develop the team with insights into current and future site activities.
  • Ensure tasks meet programme and quality standards for health, safety and environment.

 

 

Who you are

 

You will have broad working knowledge of Construction & Installation techniques, particularly welding and non-destructive testing (NDT) of piping systems and associated equipment, and proven management skills and experience in roles on a variety of major projects. Knowledge of the FIDIC contracts and working in the nuclear industry would be an advantage.

 

Other requirements for this role also include:

 

  • Extensive Senior Welding Inspector or NDT experience and advance qualifications.
  • Experienced Welding Engineers and Welding Quality Control Coordinators will also be considered.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry with a strong emphasis on safety.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards, particularly ISO9001.
  • Thorough understanding of design obligations under CDM Regulations, ensuring compliance throughout the process.
  • Demonstrable success in managing large complex projects or significant elements of.
  • Experience in installing and erecting large mechanical and electrical plant.
  • Effective organisational, delegation and communication skills, to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, staff, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of materials, trade methods, and legal requirements.
