Opportunity…
 

We are recruiting for a diverse and Knowledgeable Commissioning Fire Safety Coordinator to oversee fire safety for the Hinkley Point C project (HPC).


In this role, you'll manage day-to-day fire safety, including risk assessments, and develop safety systems. You'll collaborate with various teams and contractors, providing support and promoting a positive fire safety culture.

You will be reporting to the Commissioning Manager and will be responsible in ensuring fire safety compliance and assurance. Build strong relationships with Tier 1 contractors and the HPC Fire Safety team are essential for success. Join us to contribute your expertise in a dynamic, inclusive environment.

What you’ll be doing…
 

  • Facilitate and administer Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness Management Systems and Fire Safety Audit and Assurance.
  • Support stakeholder meetings, including those with regulators and external emergency services.
  • Contribute to implementing the Commissioning fire safety strategy.
  • Ensure HPC project Fire Health and Safety Standards are consistently met, championing the HPC Way in all activities.
  • Coordinate Commissioning Fire safety activities and planning between Commissioning/Pre-Operations.
  • Assist with communicating lessons learned, toolbox talks, and fire safety moments across CommOps.
  • Coordinate, administer, and support regular site fire safety inspections and checks.
  • Assist the Fire Safety Lead with managing Commissioning, including writing and owning Commissioning Fire Risk Assessments (FRA) and ensuring compliance with Client & Principal Contractors procedures.

     

Who you are…
 

  • Excellent communication skills, able to develop a wide network and working relationships within EDF and the construction industry.
  • Strong fire safety experience, especially within large project environments.
  • Highly skilled in analyzing complex, detailed information to identify trends, issues, and risks.
  • Capable of anticipating future fire risks and communicating complex concepts clearly using various media.
  • Effective in engaging others with technical issues and distilling knowledge to build skills in others.
  • Strong knowledge of national and international fire safety standards.
  • Proven track record in fire safety within complex and high-risk operations, processes, or construction environments.
  • Membership (or working towards) of the Institute of Fire Safety Engineers (IFE) or equivalent organization, and fire safety qualified through an approved professional body or organisation i.e. UK Fire Service College, FPA, IFE, NEBOSH etc, with strong experience.

 

You may also have any of the following:
 

  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • Experience in creating and implementing fire safety strategies and plans across complex and high-risk operations.
  • Knowledge and experience of interfacing with the ONR or HSE.
  • Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent
