A career that will deliver change. Together, we’ll help Britain achieve net zero.

The Opportunity

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is a nuclear site, based in West Somerset, 15 miles from Bridgwater. The Nuclear New Build (NNB) ambition is to build two major EPR nuclear plants, and the position will be part of HPC Project Management Team working within the Delivery Command Centre.

You will be responsible for considering all aspects of the planning of a designated section of the works on the HPC project. This will involve conducting integrated and cross-cutting coordination reviews of construction preparation, looking at arrangements in detail from wider perspectives to provide oversight, ensuring pre-requisites, dependencies and constraints are managed in a balanced and integrated approach to ensure the activities on the site run safely and smoothly and in accordance with the project schedule (IWS84).

Because of the scale and complexity of this project, the programme duration, and the challenging completion date, you must have proven experience in the execution of large and complex works projects under similar constraints.

The Role

As Building Integration Lead, your responsibilities will include but not limited to the below;

•    Ensure that conventional and nuclear safety considerations are recognised as essential to the success of the project and built into the planning processes.
•    Ensure that detailed plans are developed to a facility and/or area basis which integrate co-ordinate and sequence work activities to achieve the optimum construction sequence paying attention to contractor interfaces.
•    Support development of a construction execution plan that clearly identifies site need dates for critical equipment and materials which includes mitigating actions in time to avoid any impacts to site activities Implementing cross cutting reviews of work scope where the interfaces in areas are intersected by many different contractors. (16 Week Look Ahead Schedule)
•    Develop detailed access routes for personnel and equipment, identifying suitability of the access routes, impacts to other work activities and identification of temporary access openings for equipment installation, specifically within their area, and the interface into adjacent areas.
•    Work closely with the design and procurement groups to conduct constructability reviews to ensure realistic construction expectations are realized.
•    Foster and promoting Area Management collaboration between Delivery Optimisation, Project Controls, MDT team members and supply chain partners to achieve a “what’s best for the project” outcome at the potential short-term impact on an individual contract and ensuring full buy in with the program and project managers.
•    Implement seamless working arrangements with the Engineering Command Centre and the Site Command Centre to ensure full understanding and alignment with work sequencing plans and release of work scope to the site.
•    Implement a construction readiness review process on work scope packages based on complexity. Readiness review will be based around the construction sequence planning process (Delivery Work Package / Readiness Review Processes) and will be conducted on a rolling wave basis based on a time scale relative to the start of the works on site.
•    Participate in the PM led gateway review process to ensure that packages are complete and will allow construction to complete the work scope efficiently.
•    Maximize the knowledge gained from lessons learned from previous projects and utilizing the project lessons learned programs for experiences from FA3, Taishan, etc.
•    Encourage the development of HPC lessons learned to support future project execution.
•    Provide early team engagement and construction input to supply chain contract conditions to ensure site conditions and requirements are included.
•    Integrate the supply chain partners’ resources to maximize their expertise and skill set when developing the schedule and construction strategies to ensure schedule ownership and best practice implementation.
•    Support a coordinated and holistic approach to the provision of common shared services such as scaffold, temporary HVAC and electrical services.

The Skills

•    Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Equivalent in Construction Management or related subject or a demonstrable level of experience based on years of experience project assignments.
