BOP Critical Path Engineer

Hinkley Point C site – majority time will be spent on site (minimum 4 days a week)

We are currently looking to recruit a Critical Path Engineer to join one of our most exciting and ambitious projects, as we continue to lead the rebirth of nuclear in the UK. At HPC we are building the first nuclear power station to be constructed in the UK for over two decades, which at the operating stage will employ several hundred people and make a major contribution to the UK’s move to reduce carbon emissions.


As a Critical Path Engineer you will be working in the Critical Path team within  Delivery Integration team, where  your main responsibility will be to support Construction in addressing risks and blockers, to manage  schedule adherence. To be successful in this role you will have to have a strong background in Engineering and/or Construction as well as schedule management.

 What you’ll be doing…

•    Liaise with Site Construction and Programme Teams to ensure that the construction critical path is understood and is being adhered to. Report issues, variances, or concerns on a weekly basis, propose mitigations 
•    Report on effectiveness of any mitigation & recovery planning
•    Ensure that critical and sub-critical path in each geographical area is visible, understood and is being adhered to
•    Monitor & report weekly schedule adherence – e.g., L0/L1/L2 Milestones, confirm performance trends & accuracy of forecast dates, mitigation, and relevant comments Report issues, variances, or concerns on a weekly basis
•    Ensure that there are clear impact statements for any adverse variances
•    Oversight & support of Contractor’s Plans of the Day (PLODs) & Plans of the Week (PLOWs) to ensure effective adherence to process
•    Oversight & support of L4 16-week and 4-week lookahead plans to ensure effective adherence to the schedule
•    Ensure that ‘incoming risks’ arising from Delivery Work Packs (DWPs), Interface Data Sheets (IDSs) Engineering Design Reports (EDRs) are understood by the Construction Team


Who you are…


•    Strong background in Engineering and Construction – preferably knowledge of highly regulated industries e.g. Nuclear
•    Significant project/programme management experience
•    Good understanding of schedules and schedule management, including practical application
•    Good understanding and experience of a project/programme oversight function
•    Good computer/digital skill set
•    Ability to engage at all levels & function of the project to identify issues for resolution
•    Build strong working relationships and be able to work in a strong team environment
•    Resilience and flexibility
•    Challenging but open attitude



•    Good understanding of HPC construction sequence & appreciation of processes.
•    Be P6 literate and have recent experience with the tool.
