Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. 

 


We are seeking a Utilities Demand Manager for the Sizewell C project, who will be pivotal in determining and managing the requirements for electrical, water, and IT&T services. This role involves ensuring capacity assurance, overseeing governance, and providing key stakeholder support. This is great  time to join our exciting project.

 
As the Utilities Demand Manager, you will lead and coordinate all aspects of utility management to establish project-specific demands. You will develop and implement strategies and agreements necessary to meet these utility requirements. This is a great time to join an exciting project.
In addition to technical responsibilities, you will manage relationships with internal stakeholders, driving the development and execution of strategies that address the project’s utility demands.


This role requires strategic oversight of technical and engineering processes, including resolving technical issues, ensuring safety, and overseeing environmental practices and utility design. The Utilities Demand Manager will be essential in mitigating risks, managing changes, and planning the utility works, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the Sizewell C project.


Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively. 

 

 

The Role

 

You’ll be the primary point of contact responsible for:

 

Overseeing pre-construction and construction deliverables to ensure key milestones are met.


Encouraging  SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) feedback and take a leading role in addressing SHE-related issues associated with the provision and management of the utilities demands.


Providing detailed input into the Environmental Management Plan and permits as required leading the implementation once approved.


Leading the resolution of any issues arising with the management and/or provision of utilities demands and onward supplies.


Developing strong working relationships with other teams to understand their requirements and needs for establishing utilities demands.


Fostering cooperation and build strong working relationships with Utilities Designers, Contractors, temporary Utility suppliers and external stakeholders as on when required.


Ensurig effective coordination with internal stakeholders, such as the Construction, Environmental and Site Operations team and external stakeholders.


Proactively managing project scope changes and identifying potential issues and their implications.


Manage risks by developing and implementing mitigation strategies.


Ensure client satisfaction regarding delivery time, cost, and quality of the utilities demands and onward supplies.


Run effective coordination with Utilities Construction teams, including Design, Temporary Works, and Consents Managers, to ensure compliance with DCO and best practices.

 

 Ideally, you will come from Utilities, Civil Engineering, or Construction sector.

 

The Skills 


 
Extensive experience in utility management for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.


Strong leadership and team management capabilities.


Excellent communication and decision-making skills and experience of positive stakeholder engagement.


Proficiency in project management software and tools.


Proven track record of delivery within a similar environment.


Industry knowledge and experience of working within utilities services such (Water, Foul, Telecommunications, Power). 


Intellectual capacity to deal with complex issues and work creating a one team ethos.

 

The ability to re-prioritise tasks in fast paced changing environment. 

 
Ideally, you’ll come from Utilities , Civil Engineering or Construction sector. 
 


Essential:


Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.


Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in utilities coordination or management on large construction projects.


Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams.

 

 

Desirable: 


Advance negotiation and conflict resolution skills.


Knowledge of environmental management and sustainability practices.


Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field.


Professional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).


Proven experience in managing major programs or projects.
