We are looking for Station Visitor Centre Guides to join us at Sizewell B Power Station. We can offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits. The starting salary will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

The Opportunity

You will be joining us in a key role to support our work on raising awareness of EDF’s commitment to the highest standards of safety and its contribution to the local community. You will be able to work in a dynamic environment where the situation is always changing, being flexible to adapt your working style and plans.

This also applies to your working hours as we are looking for people to work on a flexible part-time contract. On average, we expect you to work between 8 and 16 hours a week, split over the predominant working hours of 9am-1pm and 1pm-4pm, although very occasionally we may ask for
on events happening in the evening. On the rare occasion we may require weekend working but this would be discussed with your line manager. Your working pattern will be dependent on demand and business need – we offer flexibility in how we shape these hours and would like this to work both ways.

The Role

As a Station Visitor Centre Guide you will be ensuring the safety and wellbeing of visitors whilst they are on site so you will have the confidence to speak and challenge all stakeholders, external or internal, particularly on matters of nuclear safety. You will be managing the experience for all levels of seniority and a variety of group sizes.

During visits from education groups, you will support and lead on centre activities and station tours. You will also take this externally, representing the station through presentations at external events. Working alongside the Visitor Centre Co-ordinator and the Community Liaison Officer, you will promote and manage the reputation of EDF in the local community through a variety of activities and programmes.

The Skills

Joining us as a Station Visitor Centre Guide you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Be highly motivated and enthusiastic
  • A methodical, motivated and customer-focused approach to work
  • A friendly, approachable and confident manner

  • Business and commercial awareness
  • A team player with the ability to work well on your own
  • Proficiency in computer skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Flexibility in work pattern
  • A full driving licence would be desirable
