The Opportunity

Are you looking for a career which is rewarding, at the cutting edge of project development and where you can really make a difference? Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project is now seeking private investment with a view to start construction in 2024. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

As a Skills Outreach Specialist, you’ll be responsible for the coordination of the project’s Young SZC programme and wider education and employment outreach related activities to reflect the different phases of the project. These outreach activities will cover the likes of digital communications, events and face-to-face engagement with the aim to attract young people onto the project.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.

The Role

We are looking for someone to act as the key point of contact for the projects education and employment support activities within the Employment Affairs Unit (EAU), with an emphasis on the SZC projects activity pre workforce.

You’ll be responsible for supporting the alliance and contract partners to deliver engagement activities to create the earliest element of the education, skills and employment pipeline to feed into future SZC apprenticeships and jobs to support the needs of the construction workforce.

The role will allow you to support the EAU team in meeting the necessary reporting objectives (including preconstruction reporting, internal reporting, and financial reporting) that are in place to be met both pre and post financial close.

You’ll create strong relationships across the SZC Project to facilitate a joined-up approach to outreach activities. These relationships will be built with with the Regional Economic and Development (READ) team, Sizewell B Visitor Centre team, SZC programme teams, Alliance/Tier 1 Education/Skills Managers as well as a wider range of external stakeholders.

The Skills

You’re likely to have comprehensive knowledge of the pre and post 16 education/skills environment and can apply this to the SZC EAU’s strategy.

It would be great if you understand the current context of regional and national education and employment policies and show an interest in understanding emerging issues within this sector.

You’ll bring your experience of developing and implementing education solutions that generate social value.

It would be expected of you to provide career advice and guidance to people participating in SZC education, skills, and employment activities.

If that all sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you! A full job description is available on request.
