The Opportunity

Come and join our expanding Sizewell C (SZC) team and work on one of the most exciting and largest megaprojects in the UK, whilst being at the forefront of the UK’s climate change agenda and energy policy. Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050.


We have a fantastic opportunity for several Senior Project Managers (and Project Managers) to spearhead the end-to-end delivery of Systems, Structures, and Components within our Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning framework for SZC. 


This’ll be a pivotal role key to the success of SZC, and you’ll be joining the project at a vital time in its construction, with an opportunity to grow with the project.


The Role


Based on site and reporting directly to the Site Establishment Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing direction and leadership for all activities associated with the full lifecycle delivery of assigned contracts. 


You'll be responsible for managing a group of Project Managers, ensuring the successful delivery of a diverse scope of projects with capital values ranging from £100m to £500m.

 

Your responsibilities will include:


•    Defining the work scope within contracts and packages, managing interfaces with other program elements.
•    Securing necessary resources and maintaining SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel) within the project team.
•    Developing and executing effective execution strategies and plans aligned with the Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
•    Driving delivery of contracts, ensuring safety, timeliness, budget adherence, and meeting technical requirements.
•    Monitoring progress, identifying and resolving issues, managing risks, and facilitating resolution.
•    Maintaining effective communication with stakeholders and reporting progress to senior management.
•    Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and applying principles of continuous improvement.
•    Managing financial aspects, including reviewing contractor payment applications and applying Earned Value Management principles.


What You'll Bring:


A track record of successfully delivering projects in complex, regulated environments, preferably within nuclear energy or similar sectors.


Experience in engineering design, contract management, procurement, cost control, and risk management.


Strong leadership and management skills, including stakeholder engagement and team management.


Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies such as APM Body of Knowledge and Prince 2.


Detailed understanding of EPR design and familiarity with NEC and FIDIC contracts.


Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.


Chartered status in engineering, construction, or related field, with a degree qualification.


Knowledge of CDM Regulations and nuclear quality assurance practices.
