Security Shift Team Leader, Sizewell B, £31,161 - £41,118


Permanent Security Shift Team Leader/ Deputy Team Leader, Sizewelll B, with a competitive salary of between £31,161 - £41,118, with terms and conditions covered by the EDF Energy Nuclear Generation Company Agreement.  The starting salary for this appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

At Sizewell B Power Station we are looking for a Security Shift Team Leader and a Deputy Team Leader to join our Security team. You will be supporting the delivery of the required provision of security standards on nuclear sites, ensuring the integrity of the site security plan is maintained and meets regulatory requirements.

The Role


As a Team Leader in the Security team you will be required to lead and coordinate security guard activities and site security actions to ensure compliance with mandatory duties and regulatory requirements, liaising with the Site Head of Security or Site Manager as necessary. You will also interface with all other station and non-operational departments to ensure a robust security culture is maintained, alongside working with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary to ensure effective coordinated response capability. External stakeholders such as Home Office Police and the Office for Nuclear Regulation will be key points of contact to liaise on ongoing matters of high security where required. 

As part of this role your day to day responsibilities will also include:
 

  • Ensuring team resources are regularly reviewed and optimised to ensure effective and efficient security regime
  • Undertaking duties in accordance with the Site Emergency and Counter Terrorist Contingency plan
  • Ensuring security team works to achieve compliance with security regulations and company policy
  • Ensures that own security team personnel are SQEP to carry out tasks required and identified in security and company policy
  • Identifying, reporting and actively addressing any deficiencies in the physical security, security systems or regulatory requirements of the station
  • Ensuring company and regulatory requirements with respect to search and entry of people and vehicles onto site are met
  • Responding to emergencies and vents in accordance with procedures and published plans
  • Ensuring that all security logs, key registers and other related records are maintained in accordance with technical training and company procedures
     

You will be required to work day and night shifts as part of the security regime for the station.

The Skills


As part of this role you will require the following skills or experience:
 

  • As a minimum, entrants will be educated to GCSE/National Qualification standards (or equivalent). Qualifications that include “4” and above grade passes in English and Mathematics would be advantageous
  • Security Check (SC) vetting is essential and a condition of appointment 
  • NEBSM or NVQ level 3 in security or equivalent experience is desirable
  • Excellent people and communication skills to achieve effective and acceptable ‘front of house’ standards
  • Computer literacy for monitoring and responding to security systems
  • Ability to demonstrate command and control behaviours as required
